i260 / i120 Poetics Rings are Missing

In their effort to streamline gearing of lvl50 and lvl60 characters, SE has leapfrogged the need to buy upgrade components, and, for the most part, go straight to i130 or i270 and be happy.

However, the rings are still marked as Unique. Thus if you didn't buy the appropriate ring in advance of the patch, there's actually no source for it!

For example, attempt to find Shire Pankratiast's Ring

Steps:
1. Teleport to Idyllshire
2. Open Hismena's "Allagan Tomestones of Poetics (DoW) II" menu
3. Accessories tab
4. To your horror, there is no way to get the i260 ring of the stats you desire



Previously, you'd buy the i260 ring and have a total ilvl of 269. Previously, I could easily buy an i260 Pankratiast's ring and equip it on my Warrior because it wasn't role-locked. In this way, my Warrior could have a more offensive ring without any Tenacity garbage in it.

Now, you have to wear whatever ring you happened to have, which likely is far worse ilvl, until you happened to clear harder content. In this particular case, the choices would be:

• Ghost Barque Ring of XXXX (i260) -- role-locked drop from Sirensong Sea dungeon
• Muudhorn Ring of XXXX (i265) -- role-locked crafted
• Sunburst Ring of XXXX (i265) -- not sure if this still obtainable... is this Diadem?
• Ruby Tide Ring of XXXX (i270) -- role-locked drop from Shisui of the Violet Tides dungeon
• Alexandrian Ring of XXXX (i270) -- A9S raid, aka Alexander , the Eyes of the Creator, Savage mode
• Proto Ultima Ring of XXXX (i270) -- from a weekly gated Idyllshire quest. You're then prompted to clear Dun Scaith, the final HW Alliance raid. The quest-rewarded metal plate can then be traded to a local near the quest point for Proto Ultima stuff.

Poetics were previously used to gear up jobs, and now we can't because of Unique property on rings. We're now essentially forced to do harder content to fill out this last ring slot to likely upgrade from a garbage ilvl ring up to a comparable ilvl. This is very inconvenient to go into content knowing that one of your pieces is much much lower quality than the others.

Please either
1) reinstate missing i260 / i120 rings OR
2) remove the Unique property on the augmented i270 / i130 rings

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things though? It's only one accessory, which if you are leveling up a job; should quickly find other things to replace it with anyway. Only job it should really matter for now is BLU seeing as it's max lvl is 60, but even then another 270 ring can be purchased with Allied Seals so less of an issue for them really.

Considering that this is the standard for late game, I'm glad it's something they employ earlier.

BLU -- yes, good point, the Whalaqee Ring can hold them until they do some Alex savage. As far as I know, though, the Crit/DH build is considered stronger than Crit/Ss, so an aspiring BLU DPS would eventually be wearing Alexandrian Ring of Casting and Augmented Shire Philosopher's Ring.

For other jobs, it's more of an inconvenience. Maybe one's style is to power-level a job fully before moving to the next, but it's also quite common to level a bunch of jobs in tiers. This second way could be to save inventory from shared gear, but also simply to have a job chilling in a particular level range for Beast Tribe or perhaps even Normal/Alliance roulette purposes. So people fond of the second way could have jobs at this level range for much longer, and so wearing a silly ring for much longer

In any case, just because you and I can work around the ring handicap with game knowledge, doesn't mean we should, and newbies shouldn't have to figure it out either! Square Enix were trying to streamline full gearing with poetics, so they should fix it so that the gearing can truly be fully done with poetics. At the moment, it simply can't due to uniqueness or missing as written above. Hope you see where I'm coming from.

Uh, I agree they should fix this, it's absolutely ridicolous.
It's bad enough that now we have no way of upgrading previously bought gear and need to spend the full amount again, but it's much worse not being able now to have two poetics rings. We're forced to craft/buy one and it's unfair.

I do see where you are coming from, not against the idea or anything I just don't see as much urgency with it, though that's my opinion. I will say though that if you use a job boost (from the cash shop), it gives you coffer of gear for the lvl you boosted to. So I brought the lvl70 job boost once on an alt and got a set of Aug Scaven gear pieces (ilvl400) in the coffer while the last ring (ilvl375) was not an non-aug ring. There I had completely blue aug gear except one green ring (that is a dungeon drop) given inside instead to complete the set, rather than a blue varient.

Basically what I'm saying is if SE is giving a dungeon ring in a cash shop coffer that isn't non-aug, then it doesn't seem to be an oversight if they expect a player to work for that final ring you know. Or they don't think it's as important seeing as it's old content gear which was my general thinking on it, but I don't really know and can only speculate.
