    Unreal Dungeons

After completing Shiva a few times now and seeing how nicely tuned it is, I think it would be cool if SE put in a small rotation of Unreal Dungeons alongside the trial.

This could also work as another way to get some more Faux Leves, since currently this looks like it's going to be a decently long grind for some really lacklustre rewards - however, the Unreal fight was great fun, so for once, it's something I'd continue to do without the goal just being a reward and I think having more content like this, such as Dungeons would be a good way to spend time in game.

I'm not sure what dungeon I would pick, but obviously, Aurum Vale jumps to mind

    What are your thoughts?

I would welcome something like this if it functioned more akin to the heroic difficulty dungeons in WoW and actually changed up the mechanics on the trash mobs and bosses to make things more difficult.

There really isn't enough four player content, IMO.

I'd open for that as well. I like running older content in the roulettes, but every once and a while i would like them to be more difficult so that it's something to sink your teeth into and run with friends. I really want to feel the consequences of failing a mechanic. I don't mind wiping, as long as it gives you a sense of progression and fun.

I think having Unreal dungeons as an alternative to unreal extreme trials for faux leaves would be a great idea. This Faux Hollows thing seems to be something SE wants everyone to be able to participate in and enjoy, like Wondrous Tales, but being Extreme level difficulty really narrows down the number of people who will do it. Giving a slightly easier, but much slower, way to grind out leaves via Unreal Dungeons would be a nice idea I think. And seeing as the current Faux Hollow from Shiva already has an insultingly low payout of leaves, they should up the amount of leaves you get from the extreme trials and make the current payouts be for Unreal Dungeons.

The dungeons don't need to have super scaled up mechanics or savage-tier dps checks, either. That's going too far. Just have them be tuned to mininum ilevel sync and make it so failing mechanics actually matters and it is fine. I'd say 24-man levels of mechanical failure forgiveness and overall difficulty would be ok. Failing mechanics gives you vuln stacks, with "signature" mechanics being oneshots if you eat them to the face. Too many dungeons just have no danger to them at all, with no punishment for failing a mechanic other than a laughable amount of damage that is easily healed back.

Unreal is nicely tuned if you go in with a static or with previous EX / Savage tier players. But going in the random casual pugs (which would be what an unreal dungeon would be) is a lesson in frustration.

That's at least been my experience with Shiva Unreal so far.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Oh God this is sooooo true!

I read people saying how Shiva unreal is not too bad and rather easy and I am thinking; "yeah, BET you have a 'static' you run with on a regular basis."
The DPS check is too harsh for this to be easy in PF with the typical people that join who give up if it is not done in 2-3 tries.

And I had to laugh at the comment about Yoshi not liking content that strains the healer.

Honey, I cleared Shiva unreal AS a healer and I will tell you first hand, it STRAINS you! I don't think a dungeon version of unreal would be much worse ;-)

This so much. I practiced a lot and I found it just frustrating, a lot of friends practiced countless hours and days both in fc and many PF groups and never got a clear yet. It's really much harder than a lot of people make it out to be.
I guess indeed those having an easy time are statics (and coordinating on voice) and people who ran the original ex until they puked back then. It's a real nightmare for the rest of us.
I'd rather they just keep adding new stuff than add even more unreal stuff.

The Shiva Mechanics themselves are actually rather easy to learn and very repetitious. In phase 3 she does the same things every time, only the positioning of the circles for hailstorm are different., and sometimes she will do a sword attack before hailstorm, which you need to watch for to stack.

But even with knowing them, people still mess up and do dumb things, Lord knows I have. ;p Too many deaths and the DPS check will not happen. Also, if you need to use the healer LB3, the DPS check will probably not happen either.

My clear group won partly because we did NOT move for the circle AOE after the ice and before the bow. Staying in the middle and eating the damage allowed the DPS's to keep up their stacks and attacks and make positioning for the bow easy. Let me tell you, it made a WORLD of difference.

Upscaling would do the same thing and could be reused for any content.

While I think downscaling is a fantastic addition to the game I do miss my other abilities at times.

Yeah unreal could be done to anything really, wouldnt mind seeing it for crystal tower raids, normal runs burn through bosses so fast. Back in my day, you had to seperate skeletons for bone dragon, everyone got a chance to be a ghost, and you had to save towers on behemoth, lol
