He ignores all the reasons I don't like QTE again. What a rational boy indeed.

"The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater."
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
I just added him to my Ignore List, so no more time wasting. If a person does not see arguments from me and other people and he is here only for the sake of trolling, it makes no sense to talk to him.
This iteration of mash-the-button QTE has been in the game since Heavensward. Yes, it is boring. No, it is not engaging. It's still here though. Either figure out how to set up a rapid-fire button on your keyboard or get a controller that supports it at this point.
I am in the beginning stages of carpal tunnel. My wrists literally *ached* after doing that QTE. I did finally clear it, but it doesn't negate the fact that mechanics should not cause pain.
Well duh. First time I did this my hands were in pain from mashing. After reading about how deceptive the QTE was, I opted to just casually pressing, which was basically pressing Square and Left on the control pad which was roughly 4 taps a second (2 on Left, 2 on Square). My ping is also around 150-200 in this game. They did the QTE this way for story reasons. Overcome what would be a losing situation. And you only need one lag to destroy this casual use of the buttons..also its not clear from the QTE itself. If I see something going down fast my reaction would not be: Lets hit a button slowly..it would be to smash it as fast as possible..this view is then supported by the bar still dropping even if you smash it.
Maybe some will watch a video or read the forums, but that does not help you when you do it the first time and 99% of the people probably also wont read it up later..so why SE choose to do this one QTE that certain way is beyond my understanding..and seeing some descriptions here on the forum, the slow version does not work for everyone. Its just really confusing why they thought that this would be great in this trial.
I'm not sure if you missed it but you still haven't answered my question as to why having an all or nothing QTE all of a sudden on a story gating quest is a good idea. Or why a laughingly simple repetitive physical requirement is a good way to make something difficult/interesting.
Though your copout exit does make me think you didn't really have any point of view to begin with. I like to try and be charitable but you're either ignoring or swatting away all olive branches , so i'm pretty sure you were just in here to stir the pot.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
There was two videos and a few tips that were brought up that alot of people just waved away. So in a sense he wasn't wrong. And while he may have been a bit mean it still doesn't take away from his point that 2 videos showing how you can pass it without killing your hand exist.I'm not sure if you missed it but you still haven't answered my question as to why having an all or nothing QTE all of a sudden on a story gating quest is a good idea. See if this QTE was like every other QTE in this game there'd be no issue. Those QTEs didn't hurt people half as badly, and they were nowhere near as janky as this QTE seems to be. When dozens of people are arguing on how to even complete the QTE and many of them cannot actually get other people's methods to work there's an inherent problem with the mechanic.
I have seen the videos and of course they provide compelling evidence.. however the first night it dropped i was playing with someone who was HAMMERING the spacebar with both hands and they could not pass, not until we realized you could use any key at all. So either there is an element missing we aren't considering like it samples your keypressing rate and adjusts to what it thinks you can do or they've possibly stealth fixed it.There was two videos and a few tips that were brought up that alot of people just waved away. My point of why an "all or nothing" mechanic was added to a story quest stands. Difficulty should be in technique, not raw button mashing and putting every single member in a possibly random cobbled together party personally responsible for passing. Just the fact that you would have to go learn the "secret technique" to passing instead of doing what the game intuitively suggests you do makes me consider it a bad design. The devs made solo instances difficulty changeable, why make one random story fight have such a hard gate on it? Sure it was bleeding edge content on release day, but someday it's just going to be this weird spike in the curve for a new player trying to get through the story.

It only means that these solutions are not universal. They may be okay for someone, but not for another one. If someone honestly says that this solution does not suit, it does not mean that that person waved it away. There was two videos and a few tips that were brought up that alot of people just waved away.
