Yes, you still have to do it when you're dead. You get resurrected to do the QTE. And if someone has disconnected during the fight you automatically fail too.

Huh. When I did it a couple of people were dead and IIRC their circles were empty in the thing, so I assumed they were locked out of that part entirely. I guess not.
I agree so much. It just is not accessible at all and for a controller player to have to set the controller down to then mash the keyboard, it is very very hard. Not to mention, what about those who can only use a controller? I am sorry you are experiencing this also, I hope they make a change soon. Not true. I died before the QTE and I still had to do it. They really need to revisit it. I seriously cannot do this thing. I've had to drop out of three groups because I just kept failing at it. It takes too long, I can't keep the bashing of my buttons up at all. It's extremely taxing for me and not to mention frustrating that I'm now stuck there. It goes down so fast I can't keep up.
It's really not fair that one person failing makes the whole group have to do the entire thing all over again.
They really need to look into this and accommodate players who have mobility issues.

I hope they consider making the more accessible. As it stands, there are going to be a lot of people who won't be able to do this for multiple reasons.

I wonder how many people are having this issue. I've seen a few people talk about it in the dungeon forum, but other than that I've only seen this thread. I do hope there are a few people who have this problem, so that they will actually do something. It's so frustrating to know that because I can't mash the buttons fast enough I can't finish the 5.3 MSQ. The other QTE were not as hard as this one, although I do struggle with them sometimes depending on how I feel. (I have chronic fatigue issues due to an auto-immune disease.)

They just hired an accessibility consultant and literally a patch later, this shows up. I encourage people to write using the form SE has provided above to bring more awareness directly to the accessibility team.

I'm all for a longer/tougher QTE but...I do think that this one was just a tad excessive.

Yeah, I could hardly keep the bar up at all near the top, but when it gets closer to the bottom each press can give back a ton of gauge. From what I've gleaned from others it goes down REALLY fast until the last quarter or so then returns to it's normal everyday QTE simply to give the illusion of panic.
So, you don't need to mash it. Just wait until 1/4 or so is left and go at the pace you normally do. Yes it sucks there's not much margin for error.
I still failed it once though, but that was because I accidentally entered chat mode by hitting R as I was keyboard mashing in my panic.
Thank you I will do this. My partner and I sent in game messages and feedback as well.https://support.eu.square-enix.com/a...984.1533272345
