Hello current and ex Dark Knight players

Many threads have been about over time about rolling back Drk to a better time given its current iteration is treated with contempt by the devs what with being weaker than all other tanks and playing like 2.0 Marauder or a nerfed version of 5.0 Warrior

Currently unanimous agreement is LD needs changing and self healing needs buffing. Its also agreed upon that we should get back our own unique gameplay style

Opinions differ on what style of Drk gameplay we want however:
The Hw style of multiple combos, periodic dark arts and debuffing
or
The Sb style of frequent dark arts, lots of mp restore and expending and haste boosted attacks

ANOTHER one of these threads? DRK is fine. It has a solid foundation that can be built on. You can expand the esteem skill to do more things in the future, the only thing that needs changing for SURE is Delirium. Budget inner release is unacceptable. It's literally the same thing without Dcrits. Holy spirit made sense for PLD being magic, and a ranged attack, making it unique. GNB is built around cart and GF combo, and has no spam phase. WAR is WAR.

Ideally, delirium should put our resource generation into overdrive with insane generation of resources, kind of like how blood weapon works now, but different. Perhaps a third resource for DRK that Delirium generates alone, or perhaps Delirium costs 50 blood to access a powerful combo of some sort... I personally prefer Delirium to extend Blood Weapon, I thought that was fine.

Expand the DA proc to do something other than a free edge, when you do not need darkside. Perhaps reintroduce scourge to be spent so you'd have to do two TBNs a minute, one for the extra edge for raidbuffs, once for scourge, where you are more threatened on spending MP and feel an urgency to do so. Make esteem permament on the field so long as you have darkside to feed it, this would cause you to feed darkside to it, and have darkside to maintain your dmg buff.

These are just ideas and not necessary, though.

Delirium needs a change. TBN needs two more seconds, so we can get three autos worth of dmg in to guarantee a pop, and Living dead needs something. I don't think living dead is like CRITICAL DEFCON 1 LEVELS OF NEED, but it'd be nice. All healers have tools to deal with this: Excog, Essential D, Bene/Tetra. OH NO HEALERS HAVE TO GCD HEAL? THE HORROR!

While between the two I'd have to pick Heavensward, that doesn't mean I'd want to emulate the Heavensward style now.

There are parts to each iteration that have been superior to others. From HW, I preferred the ability to spend MP choicefully, sacrificing offense and oGCD space, so to speak, for added defense or self-healing. But that relied on that MP cost, and the potency it equated to, feeling significant. Without it, we just had StB's DA spam, which, like most, I did not enjoy. That said, I did immensely enjoy my ability to keep myself alive via DA-AD and to have Quietus refund itself under Blood Weapon, for instance. Now, I enjoy the smooth animations and seriously punchy damage of Edge and Flood. At the same time, I dislike the current Delirium, although it's scarcely any worse, imo, than StB's version.

Picking just one, rather than the best of each, would be a waste, so I'm not sure how much value a thread like this can have without shifting to an entirely new focus in time.

I would say HW DRK with his SB aoe rotation but HW in general for me.

I was never DRK main but i believe that DRK is not in terrible state, but it definitely needs adjustments. What i have in mind:
1. Rework Delirium, this WAR copy is awful.
2. Bring back Power Slash (replace current combo).
3. Bring back Shadowskin (replace Rampart).
4. Add attack speed buff to Dark Side.

my own sig don't disagree with anything, DRK is a marauder branch where WAR have more oGCD, the poll is about if they change DRK what version you preffer they focus on, SB or HW? not wich one is your favourite.

Fair points. But even then a third option, like "Stay with ShB-DRK" or "None of them", would really improve this poll.
