Even if you aren't participating, this is still a problem. Was farming animal skins to build the forge house walls this weekend, and both times I had to go to new areas, I could IMMEDIATELY tell when the train arrived as all that congestion in the zone made it impossible for me to attack the other mobs until they left, not to mention all the just idiotic shout chat, and always from people who aren't from my same world.Need to bump here not to complain about the trains but about the way the game is coded to render things.
Maybe if the game give priority to mobs and our own party there would be no problems. The PS5 do a great job and is welcomed improvement, but is moot if the marks can't be seen becuause there are 200+ people there
I won't hide that I was pretty gleeful the first few days after the patch when they couldn't descend on my world en masse as people weren't able to world transfer....
Cross World already borked them. I can only imagine how awful Cross Realm will be.
I know a lot of people love the whole one server idea, but this is a glaring example as to why it should've never happened or at the very least limited to capital cities. You can visit my world and que and hang out in Limsa, but you can't leave that city. It's like they don't think clearly when they implement systems that negatively effect even small aspects of the game like hunts.

I've been attempting to do some hunt trains lately just to speed up getting nuts for tome gear upgrades and it's... Been mixed.
I appreciate the people who do trains that wait a minute each area and make sure it's not congested so everyone can get there. But a lot of them were "join and if you can't get there, don't bother". Which sounds like it would only be a lower end system problem, but I have a brand new gaming computer and even mine struggled to get me there at times because the aetheryte would become congested, even from accepting a teleport from a party member. I've noticed there's been a few "locals only" trains and these run smoothly, and remind me of when I did trains back in Stormblood before the cross world. I like hunts, I just wish they weren't such a mindless pain in the ass to deal with.
I miss Stormblood hunts so much. It's gotten to the point on my server where only the first mark gets a grace period. Every subsequent mark is attacked as soon as it has loaded. I have a ssd and while my computer isn't amazing I can barely keep up with even hitting the mobs let alone if they disappear on you.I've been attempting to do some hunt trains lately just to speed up getting nuts for tome gear upgrades and it's... Been mixed.

Something needs to give on the issue of cross world data centers, because if it's rolled out the same as cross world then hunts are going to become a clown fiesta.

I'm gonna have to agree with this. Having so many people from different servers go into a "free-for-all" mode of these hunts trains is quite irritating. Even with a decent PC loading is still an issue for the server as if too many begin teleporting at once, it has to stop some from entry; and this more often than not makes you miss some marks. Also the culling is bad even when you're right under the mark's arse it disappears and becomes un-targetable/ or deselects it even if you still see it. My lag isn't that bad even when having a horde of people in the instance (which is surprising for me - I still have this game on an HDD).
But even worst than this is the trolls of others servers now have access to the whole DC. We had a guy from Goblin kill S Ranks on site by finding it first (with illegal software) for months. He's gone quiet for a bit, but I haven't gone to any trains/ old S Ranks for a while now. Not sure if they are back to their old game. I honestly just stopped conducting or spawning S Ranks. I feel like my hours of hard work just go to waste.
I don't look forward to DC visits. We are working on an honor system since, yes, it's not TOS to kill hunts before others get there, it's just common decency. I just wish everyone was less about "me" and more about the group when it came to these things. But I digress.
May the stars light thy way.
Cross world hunts have made normal hunt trains go into slow-mode to allow more people to show up and that's just a downward cycle that feeds on itself.
While hunt trains as an idea is a questionable thing already, I'm not one to bite the hand that feeds. They were fine for a long time, a quick trip around the world for some easy tomes.
But now there's conductors that will intentionally send people the wrong way in order to delay the killing to allow more and more players to pack into the zone. All it really does it stop local players from accessing the zone, both hunters and people that just wanna go about their business.
If you wanna disrespect what hunts are and create a train, then bullet train it. I've essentially stopped hunting due to this.
Unfortunately it's player made issue based on a SE made problem. While it's the conductors right to set up as they please, they can actively make the game unenjoyable for some depending on how they do it.

I think a CD on world visit might be in order to mitigate this issue but I'm sure the playerbase would disagree with that.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I world visit to do so many things and hunts is, like, 5% of that.
Adding a cool down would just interfere with all the other activities that benefit from world visiting.
That would interfere too much with normal things people use World Visit for. I usually hop around to see MB prices or go to events on another server.
