    Tech improvements in 5.3

We all know about the MSQ improvements but no one's talked about the characters/objects limits improvements.
Before this patch, even on maximum "character/objects" setting the game would not show all the Player characters in the vicinity. Now however they actually worked on the game's engine to show everyone at Limsa or Eulmore; haven't tested it in A trains/s ranks yet but it probably shows more than it did before 5.3. I also notice my fps doesn't drop where it normally would (large crowds/alliance raids). The game engine's definitely been optimized. Anyone else noticed these changes?

The game is definitely being improved, this bods really well for what we'll get in 6.0. The next step should be to use the high quality shaders and physics engine in GPose. Gpose also seems to have a really good version of anti-aliasing. If they can make the game look like how Gpose looks it'll be a big step up. But yeah, as far as performance I'm glad they updated the engine and how it handles characters, it definitely means they're starting to remove the memory limitations/restrictions in the game (ARR flying for example).

Unless, of course, you are like me and are forced to play in DX9.0c because the game keeps randomly crashing with DX11 regardless of reinstalling and updating drivers and turning everything off yadda yadda.

Then, all of those people will eventually start causing the game to bog down into 20, 30+ second loads when you teleport and occasionally cause the game's FPS to drop down to 0.5 - 0.3 FPS because the 9.0c routines can't handle that many freaking people in an area.

Kinda wish there was a slider that you could manipulate as to how many PCs to show in the area, like, if a player character is not in combat and not in your group, you should be able to just make them all invisible so the game doesn't have to render them.

Yeah, the game should definitely be able to handle this, it's not that complex of a setting; though I don't know the engine they're using but just from how I see the game handle crowds, it should be possible for us to choose the number of charactes/objects manually. Instead of the vague "maximum, high, medium." Should be more like a slider kind of thing. In the end I just suggest that people please upgrade to ps4 or very soon to ps5 if their computers can't really handle the game. I know it's not within everyone's budget though, but ps4 should be going down in price in the very near future.

I don't have room for, and I am not interested in, a ps4, nor do I want to pay Sony an additional $50 per year to play multiplayer games.

And my PC is plenty strong enough to run the game but for whatever reason, ever since like May, Myself and a slew of other players have been getting dx11 crashes randomly. I've been getting 60 FPS+ on good settings very easily.

I'm fine with dx9 if that's what it takes to stop the random crashes, but the crowds keep bogging me down to a crawl because they can't handle how many players are in these areas at times.

I enjoyed some of the technical achievements in the cutscenes this time around. They showed someone lifting a hood over their head instead of just cutting away for the entire motion. They showed someone picking up and sipping a cup. They had someone catch an object visibly tossed to them from another character.

    Nothing happened?
Or it did, but for some reason they decided to not talk about it?

(for cut-scenes, no tech improvement was needed, the only thing that matter is devs actually wanting to make the animation or not)
