Returning Player need some tid bit into crafting!

I'm a returning player who hasn't played since Jan of last year. I know in FFXI crafting was a great big issue and made some folks nearly Billionaires in FFXI especially a GSM on Fairy server! As always culinary in any mmo is a must necessity!

What I'm asking should i continue as my 12-15 GSM/WEV/LTH? besides my Culinary?

    That's... entirely up to you?

Other crafts are nice to have leveled for their crafting abilities, but how much time you have to dedicate to leveling crafts and how much you enjoy it should be the deciding factor, so no one can really answer that, except yourself.

Cooking is making a come back as I see, but it won't make you the big bucks Leather or weaving would make you.

Also, I offer you some good advice, go for big exp bonuses in crafting, can save you money on materials when leveling.

What do I mean in this? The higher your quality, the bigger your exp bonus. This can mean bonuses like 150% to maybe 350% exp bonus.

But if you spam careful synth, you'll never make it to completion, so the easiest way to maximize exp would be to use rapid at least once and followed by one standard synth(if both of those succeed) you'll want to then start doing those careful to build up quality. Also, in your head I'd say build a average "How much durability you use in a snyth" and you'll build yourself a leveling machine.

Or you know... spam standard, but that's boring~

spamming standard and cramming quality end up giving the same rate of xp, you just get more xp value out of cramming quality into your synths and it should scale depending on level and available abilities, since with fewer abilities you won't be able to use careful as many times and it'll speed up your synths

All of the crafts are useful to have ^^.

The abilities you get as 36 ALC and 36 CRP (Hand of the Gods and Perfection, respectively) are imo the most useful across the board, for any synth, for any purpose. If you invested in those two crafts, they'd help you with the others.

You should definitely carve your own path in crafting. You can do leves and/or grind on your own mats. If you do the latter, then you should plan out which recipes you'll do (mooglebox excels at helping you do this) ahead of time, since many times you'll grind on making a material that will be useful later, or for another craft. Several different combinations of crafts have such synergies.

I maxed them before the changes to crafting, but I found that grinding BSM/ARM/CRP/ALC was significantly cheaper than grinding LTW/GSM/WVR. But the economy has changed a lot since then, so take that with a grain of salt.
