You'd think that something you've seen mechanics of before would mean that people should be able to do it right.
It does not. I had a group that had absolutely no idea what Pyretic was, and kept almost (or actually) killing themselves after every fire blade, which happens to be followed up with Dragonsong Dive. And because the party had two White Mages, they weren't able to fully heal up the party, and it was hitting HARD.
So remember that just because it's been in the game before, doesn't mean that people will know how to do it. From experience, if it's not in the MSQ path, then there's a 30% chance people will recognise it.
The other 40% chance is that it'll have been so long since they've done it, they can't remember how it's done. And the other other 30% chance is that they just coasted through on someone else, because nothing explained HOW the mechanic works, and failing that mechanic just meant their death instead of the party wiping.
I did it last night, it was fun not to hard. But the only problem i had was the button pressing. ( Using an controller on pc) i might doing again with a different one to see if i run into the same issue.
for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?
I'm def in this boat. I started playing in 4.4 and only got into harder content in ShB with the EXes and Savages.
I was in a discord and people were calling Pyretic's and I had no idea what was going on. Even googling "FF14 pyretic" after the trial wasn't helping. I was getting, like, two links about this trial and then none of the other search results were relevant.
I like that the qte is "survive for 10s" instead of "fill a bar from 0-100% in 2 sec and then afk for 8s". I like how the bar decreases faster than you can fill it by mashing, gives the sense that you just need to hold on
Nah, it really isn't. People said the same about Shinryu.
Only nerf the fight needs is with the ATE gauge. They need to slow the speed at which it empties down a bit, I almost broke my space bar trying to keep it from dropping. Other then that I feel the fight is perfectly fine and more then passible for even a random group.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
I am having real issues with the ATE. I can't for the life of me mash the button hard enough. I'm afraid to break my keyboard. You have to keep mashing for such a long time, I can't keep that up. This is not very user friendly, it's very ableist to expect everyone to be able to do this. If took less long and the bar didn't lower that quickly it wouldn't be a problem.
I love the patch and everything, but this is sucking the joy right out of me and I'm afraid to keep trying. I'm stuck because I can't do that one thing. I don't even know they're gonna do something about this, so now I'm just stuck in limbo, waiting.
I came in here in expect that I can exchange some idea with everyone how you deal with phases with diff strategy, turn out you guys are discussing normal SOS. lol
dont worry, the normal trial is very lenient for casual player. you just have to pay attention to what the boss will do. the sign is so obvious you clearly cannot miss it. tether, stack, cone, you have already seen all this markers thousands times. you will be fine.
