No longer possible to augment base Ironworks Gear?

So based off the patch notes of 5.3, it seems that the means of obtaining carbontwine/carboncoat have been removed from the game so does that mean for any unupgraded Ironworks gear that I have, if I didn't hoard carbontwine/carboncoat prior to the patch, I have no way of upgrading it into augmented Ironworks gear anymore? I'm just a little annoyed that now if I wanted to get augmented Ironworks gear I would need to buy the whole piece of armour again instead of just spending the 100 tomestones. I don't quite understand why they made such that unupgraded Shire and Scaevan can still be exchanged for the augmented versions at Calamity Salvagers but Ironworks gear cannot

They said in the patch notes that if you turn in a non-augmented piece along with 100 tomestones you can trade it for an augmented one.
As for the twine and such? Probably just chuck it.

The patch notes said you can do that with non-augmented Shire and Scaevan gear.
I saw no mention at all of Ironworks gear in the patch notes, and haven't found any vendor which would let me upgrade Ironworks gear with poetics.

Having the same issue. Checked all the new vendors, no upgrade options. Don't want to fork out the extra poetics to buy the augmented gear at heaps more the cost. Quite annoying.

I just went through the patch notes and they said that gear, that was obtainable by traiding in certain items, cannot be achieved anymore.

That truly sucks imo.

Strangely enough, the vendors (such as Seika in Idyllshire) still have the option for the dyied version.
You just cannot achieve the necessary item anymore.

Almost. They gladly exchange Shire and Scaevan gear in that way - just as the patch notes say. They do not have an option for Ironworks gear - and the patch notes make no mention at all of Ironworks gear.

Augmented Ironworks gear is sold directly from the new merchants next to every main city Aetheryte, no need for upgrading. If you still have unupgraded Ironworks I don't think there's a way to upgrade it anymore, but that's kind of moot since you can just buy the upgraded set now.

If you're reluctant to spend the extra poetics, keep in mind that, unless you're sitting at ARR level cap... actually, no, wait, base game level cap is now 60 anyway. So, it won't be all that long before Ironworks, augmented or not, gets replaced. Stat-wise, you likely won't be noticeably suffering.

But yes, bit of an oversight to have not offered a trade-in same as Shire and Scaeven.

I've been running my fiancé through the game since she joined last month and she is now unable to upgrade half her gear without forking out full price for new pieces. I'm assuming this was an oversight since they gave an easy path for lvl 60 & 70 gear.

Hope there's a hotfix or something soon.
