Rowena's Tokens and Tomestone Exchange Items Question

So with the new 5.3, these items are gone and no longer needed.

I have a dilemma where I purchased a few to exchange later on when I leveled my class to that level.

Am I SOL now and can no longer use them up?

I don't think there's an NPC that you can sell it to to get your poetics back either. lol

You could imagine how absolutely awful this is considering I had this

8300 tomestones of poetics now worth not even 1000 gil.

If you read every item's description, most of these items are completely worthless (gobdip/ester notwithstanding) and you'll notice you can now sell them for 1 gil each.

Considering the patch notes never explicitly said that these things can't be used anymore (they only said they are unobtainable), I'm hoping enough people complain to get them to reallow this exchange because HOO BOY THOSE TOMESTONES TOOK A WHILE TO GET

You'd think they'd make it like 10k gil or something, the 1 gil sell price is the real slap in the face

If there's a way to make these useful, I ain't found it yet

they make the items worthless for vendoring so there isn't an huge influx of gil into the system since the game rains poetics down on you.

So I contacted support and it seems like they're willing to give me...something? I'm in the process of figuring that out.

From the email I received : "Please know that if the item that you had accidentally purchased has been augmented or changed in any way, an exchange for a different item cannot be processed. Also, should your request be granted, this exchange will count towards your one-time Item Restoration for your account, and we may not be able to recover items for you in the future."

The whole "if the item has been changed then an exchange cannot be processed" is a bit terrifying but this feels like a special case?

Edit : Day 2 after submitting, still in the process of sorting things out
It seems you'll be using your 1 time item restoration if you go through this process, so if you think it's worth it

2nd Edit : 5 days after submitting, I will be getting a partial refund (as they could only confirm "a portion of my tokens")

I question this choice, I see how it can be helpful (for iron works gear) bit shire gear and beyond too? You can't even access this till you finish msq for that expansion. What it sounds like to me is that people skip over text and complain about stuff till they get what they want... I have a lot of useless sets i have to refarm times for on jobs I don't main just because i can no longer get the items for them. I preferred the upgrade system myself but a bit of carry over instead of a instant "you can no longer get this" like with mog tomes would have been a easier transition. I really don't want to rebuy these sets...
