Nabiri was referring to the cost of extra characters being too expensive, which they are. $3 per character is ridiculous, should be free like every other MMO except FFXI. SE just like screwing over people anyway they can.
Wait are you serious? This has to be an entitlement thing because, based on the data provided, SE is still $1 less with two characters than their primary counterparts. Nobody is "screwing" anybody.
Also, as a sidenote, I don't know if the idea of multiple characters works with this game primarily because the armory system is based on having a flexible character. Yes, different setups will work for most fights. But, from a time management standpoint, one versatile character is going to be better than multiple characters. There is no need (aside from personal preference which I do not discount) for a character for DoW and one for DoM.

I quite frankly don't understand why non-RP'ers would ever want multiple characters for any reason other than for muling/bazaaring. It just does not work in FFXIV (nor FFXI) because the point is being able to do everything on one character. Period.
I used to have no interest in having a second character until news of version 2.0 hit. Based on what Yoshida has said, it sounds like the whole flow of the game is going to be different from level 1. You'll walk into the Adventurer's Guild and see a bunch of quest markers rather than being sent on guildleves. The main scenario missions are going to altered so that battle classes are required. And though I'm way too lazy to look it up, there was a comment a long time ago about altering the flow of the game so that players moved to different cities as they leveled, eventually getting the option to select your "base of operations" later on. And with all the new areas, there has to be a lot of low- and mid-level content that will send you off exploring.
Anyway, while it's great to have a level 50 character, the level 50 content will only be a slice of the new game. If you want to experience the new content in its entirety, you have to start over. Knowing that, I'd really like to start a second character when 2.0 hits, so I hope SE gets rid of the per character fee.
That's a different thing altogether, and I may very well create a new character because of the different pace (as I've said before).I used to have no interest in having a second character until news of version 2.0 hit. However, that's still not enough to get rid of the "per-character" fee, since again, it is counterintuitive to have multiple characters at the end of the day.
We'll get a new "1 month free" with 2.0Anyway, while it's great to have a level 50 character, the level 50 content will only be a slice of the new game. In this month you can make 8 chars without to pay, if you like
