Thread: Multiple Characters in Ver 2.0

At present I am developing 2 characters with the idea of having my main character be my DoW/DoM character. My secondary character is concentrating on DoH/DoL classes with the idea of becoming my supplier. I was wondering, with the release of Ver 2.0 and the PS3 version would it be possible to have both characters up at the same time. My main on my PC and my secondary on the PS3? I am hoping yes. In that way if my main is waiting for something i.e. an LS event I could be doing something on my secondary. I know it is not possible in FFXI was just hoping it could be done here. You mean being able to log in to the same account from multiple locations at once? Most likely not.

Nope you can't sign into the same account on two separate clients.

You would either have to buy the game again for your second character and make a serparate account or use the friend pass thingy and set up a second account and subscription.

I don't even think there's an MMORPG out there that allows simultaneous log-ins with the same account, is there?

No, because it causes a gigantic, incomprehensible nightmare with race conditions and security.

Yeah, that's what I thought... makes me wonder where the hell the OP got the idea from.

Having clones of the same client not cause race conditions is like the holy grail of online game development.

But because of the way network communication works (with delays), it's impossible do it with distributed systems. That's why practically every MMO has two checks to make sure race conditions don't happen (authenticating the client, and then logging in with a character).
