    the new guy in town

might be a language thing again but in german Fandaniel speaks about how he was now able to do anything (whatever that is) and he thinks that means Elidibus must be dead. this part makes me believe that Fandaniel (and likely the other ascians) were never sundered by Zodiark but by Elidibus. Meaning with the later now dead those still alive overlords are now unsundered.

The developers have been saying for months now that Season 1 of FF14 storyline is finally reaching its conclusion. Season 2 on the other hand is up to determine how long it maybe since that is 7.0 and beyond content

    To add to that.
And apparently there's a discrepancy between the Japanese and English dialogue where the latter makes it seem like the entire story is ending where as the former is pretty clear it's just the end of the Star's story, aka the Ascians and whatever caused the Terminus. I wonder if they're going to have to address this in another live letter like they did with the whole Hytholodaeus = WoL theory that was floating around due to people taking too much stock in his English dialogue back in 5.0.

That would have been fine with me, but why not give it a decent ending then?
ShB was so well written, the story built up through many years - and now they just tossed it all out of the window in the blink of an eye.
That doesn't do the story justice. Another expension, or even an enlargened story patch, would have.
Storywise, I have no reason to play FFXIV anymore.

Maybe Edwin wasnt clear. YoshiP has been saying in interviews for a couple years that he felt the 6.0 expansion would end the current story(remember, this is patch 5.3). I read the text at the end of the MSQ as basically confirming that the next expansion wraps up what we have going on now. So yeah, one more expansion to end the story right. Then possibly a new story that starts and goes for a few expansions after that. Who knows.

The time to end the story right would have been now. Or to not end it yet.
Even if they announced that 6.0 would be the ending, why dump the whole story before?
(Amaurot, Ascian Paragons, joining the shards - gone)
Zenos and his little ascian overlord sidekick are nothing compared to that.

Furthermore, I feel like the story has only been told to me - I didn't get to live through it.
I remember when Hades was totally shocked, when we appeared as Amaurotean to him for a second.
And now it's just like "Ye, you're Azem. Here's your crystal, bye!"

    As Frizze said..

6.0 to 6.3 will be the End of the current Season 1 Storyline.

Season 2 storyline, if they follow how most Season 2 storyline goes in certain games, will not be a continuation of Season 1 storyline but a new storyline involving new antagonists unrelated to the Ascians as completely or atleast semi-related in some way due to history or being from the world before the Sundering. However, in the end we may never see Zodiark and Ascians again in Season 2 unless it is for nods back to Season 1 events through wording or a side-quest.

there is still much of the world of FF14 we have yet to explore and many dangers lurking in the shadows just waiting to appear when the Ascians are gone or atleast may have been waiting for the moment either Zodiark or Hydalyen won their war to strike. Not to mention 5.X Era MSQ, including 5.3 MSQ, has shown us the original world was not as "perfect" and peaceful as the Ascian's remembered considering everytime there was a great danger that happens the 13 were just sipping tea safely in their city reading and writing reports about it in hope of "discussing" what to do to resolve it while the places burned down by those dangers and only the 14th took actions to stop the dangers directly. Dangers that may include potential candidates for Season 2 antagonists in my opinion.

The story isn't totally over, not yet anyway. Zodiark is presumably still trapped in the moon, Hydaelyn is still hiding in the planet, the mini-Ascians are still around and while they might struggle in a toe-to-toe brawl they're still immortal dimension hopping schemers.

Still a few big things to wrap up.
I believe Hades already knew WoL is.....

Azem during Shadowbringer but due to their conflicting goals and how he could not accept WoL due to being a fragment of his former friend, Hades could not give him the Soul Crystal of the 14th. It was only during his final moments before death when Hades finally accept WoL and most likely prepared events in advance before that final battle so WoL can obtain the Soul Crystal under the possibility that he himself may be defeated by WoL and come to accept him and the world.

I really liked the amount of choices we had this time, I don't know if they mattered because me and my friend always chose the same but it was nice. Learning about Lyna and Graha's past together was heartwarming, but Lyna has really had a minor role this expansion which is a shame. Chemist allusions everywhere....which I love because it's time for a non- magey healer. Can I just say wtf is an INK MAGE lol?
I'm sad that Graha didn't perma die, but the story was emotional nevertheless.
I think the weakpart of this whole story was the garlemald stuff at the end...Zenos is rather boring incomparison to our Ascian Villians.

ALSO, can Krile finally be promoted to main cast?

    Werlyt
OMG how nice is Terncliff, I REALLY don't like the habit of adding cool areas as instanced zones only lately... Eden Zone for example and now Terncliff. I'm sad we didnt get ANY development for Regula at all, and I hope we dont have to use the robot again, I much preffered Ruby weapon, although it was clear that Sapphire was meant to be a joke like his FF7 counterpart. The good thing about this story was Valens, and I can't wait to find out more about him, also can we have that sweat for everyone thanks.

    I don't think so...

In the cutscene prior to the battle with Hades, after you merge with Ardbert, Emet sees your ascian self for the first time, his eyes get big and he exclaims "No! It can't be!" showing that he had no idea who we were. I assumed he was just coming to the realization we were a sundered soul, but since Elidibus could instantly recognize Emet in the battle at the end of 5.3 in his blank ascian form, its safe to say Emet knew immediately who we were once he saw us in the same way. But that was right before we took him out so, he couldn't have known. My guess, is he made it so once enough worlds were rejoined and he found his friend he could pass on the crystal.
