Ah, you know what? Perhaps that's how Lahabrea, Emet-Selch, and Elidibus escaped the Sundering. They were on a spaceship in orbit over Hydaelyn, so they weren't divided into 14 pieces like everyone else on the planet was.Perhaps one of the ideas he had in a worst case result was to having people leave the planet aboard Eden to find a new home? Would explain Eden's Terraforming abilities, and would be a unique kind of irony for Eden to be a force planned to be used for good originally, only to end up being used for evil.
That, or they were on the moon.
That is Lahabrea's mask but not his typical robe(he has always had black) so either we are looking at a past Lahabrea or an ascended Lahabrea taking on the role of emissary now that Elidibus is sealed.Patch 5.4 artwork is out https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/shado...ers/patch_5_4/ and there's a sneaky pic there
I'm not confident enough to start 5.4 speculation thread...
Hope the other part comes true too...
Just noticed another one. Edit: Just got a better look on PC and looks like it's just Gaia's neck...
This artwork is about Eden just like 4.2's artwork was about Omega so likely to be that Lahabrea is involved with the purpose of Eden thus we would be dealing with a past version of him.
This is just a theory but perhaps we fight this past version of Lahabrea at the height of his power before he went coocoo for Zodiark but anything more than that would be very wild speculation at this point.

Don't know, looks to me as if the general style of the Artwork makes it hard to see, but the robes seem more black than white (don't make me start a dress discussion).
The only information I want to get out of this...
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
My speculation is that Lahabrea's true name is Mateus.
The obvious indication is the counterpart scion from XII, but more than that, Lahabrea is known for his arrogance and overreaching, he apparently invented Ifrit as an Amaurotine, so there's an allusion to his role as the lord of hell and his ability to wield hellfire.
In addition, he was closely linked to Igeyorhm the Martyr, who I expect may be... Ultimecia, of whom Gaia may be a 'shard' of as she was a sundered Ascian. So who knows, we may be getting two 'true names' out of Eden.
Looking at the entire artwork, Lahabrea's robe is deliberately more lighter in colour, it is lighter than Ryne's hair, Gaia who wears black is far darker than Lahabrea, also his mask is darker than his hood whereas Ascian Lahabrea had the opposite his mask was lighter.
This isn't the same Lahabrea we have dealt with previously, perhaps it is Lahabrea in his Amaurotine robes before Zodiark became a thing but that artwork really does highlight him, even if he isn't center stage.

I wouldn't take the artwork as proof of colour. It could be deliberately faded out so it doesn't stand out at a glance or break Gaia's silhouette.Looking at the entire artwork, Lahabrea's robe is deliberately more lighter in colour, it is lighter than Ryne's hair, Gaia who wears black is far darker than Lahabrea, also his mask is darker than his hood whereas Ascian Lahabrea had the opposite his mask was lighter.

I also wouldn't judge the colour off the light part of the hood, any more than Gaia has white splotches on her sleeve. It's just catching the light to make it stand out more.
So, this is more for 5.4, but...holy crap, the new Trial for the Weapon trials is Castrum Marinum. Aka CAPE WESTWIND. You know who that means is coming as the 2nd phase!

I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
Now I find it extra silly that the Eozean Alliance just let the Garleans sit pretty in that castrum instead of, y'know, securing or destroying it to make sure they don't use it as a potential staging point for future attacks/invasions.
They already mentioned what happened with Ruby Weapon was a design defect so even if it does activate Oversoul (Gaius did specifically mention he wanted to disable it somehow to prevent more needless deaths), nothing drastic is going to happen. I'm expecting it's just going to use Eir Tarne Storm as its phase transition move then we'll be dealing with its powered-up mode with the shoulder cores and laser spam in phase 2.
