    What would you guys think about getting more Dynamic, "Combo" abilities?

    Even though it's super confusing at first, I honestly kind of love the dynamic "Combo" abilities you get in PvP, and when playing other characters in the MSQ.

    As someone who plays FFXIV exclusively with a controller, the idea of being able to bind upwards of 3 abilities to a single button sounds like a *godsend*. It would clear up SO much real estate, I would be completely ecstatic!

    Now admittedly, I also wouldn't mind maybe improving the visuals a little bit.

    Maybe when you have a combo assigned to a hotbar, you can see the numbers "1-2-3" at the top of the ability, each number in its own little circle (or just "1-2" for combos with fewer skills).

    At the start, "1" is a white circle, and "2-3" are in black circles. Then when the second skill is ready, "2" is in a white circle and "1- -3" are in black circles.

    Not that it's absolutely necessary -- in fact, I don't imagine it makes any different at all -- but I just personally kind of like knowing "where I am" in terms of a combo!

    Honestly, I would *ADORE* an addition like that. Especially on my DRK; between his core rotation, and his AoE 2-button combo, that's 5 freaking buttons I have to have bound. Imagine condensing that to only 2!!!

    Obviously, it wouldn't work for every class (Red Mage comes to mind), but for those it would... well, why not?

    Who knows, might make certain classes a little more inviting to play. The Lancer/Dragoon springs to mind.

    This would dumb things down too much, it's not exactly all the difficult as it is.

    We have this in GNBs Continuation, and to an extent, DNCs Dance steps.

    As a specific mechanic it's fine, but not as the main combo, or all you're doing most of the fight is hammering a single button.

    You can used addon for that if you want. Makes them work similar to PvP abilities

    I think things are fine as is, though some jobs suffer more from ability bloat than others.

    I don't think it dumbs things down. It just adds a layer of convenience, particularly for controller users, that instead of pushing "1>2>3", I can push "1>1>1". It's the same function either way, it just means I can fit more abilities on my bar so I don't get caught changing hot-bars mid-combat quite so often.

    It's not as though there any "choice" in these combos. That's why I mention the Red Made specifically; that's also a very "combo-driven" job, but there's a lot more choice that goes into which spell you're going to cast next. There's some level of thought there. That isn't necessarily true of the DRK, or I maybe even the SAM (oh man, I would *LOVE* playing the SAM if his three standard combos just took up three buttons; right now, it takes up EIGHT!).

    Believe me, I have. I would absolutely hate it. Reducing the buttons sequences down to two would make the jobs feel boring. It essentially means I'll spam 11112222 on say, Dragoon endlessly. If this were an active game with more advanced combos, you could justify a system like that since many characters/classes will have 10+ combos. But with FFXIV, it'd just feel stale. Now if they're going to add a plethora of new abilities to compensate, I could maybe be convinced; like Dragoon getting a third full combo. I sincerely doubt they would as that defeats the entire button bloat "problem."

    Which, speaking of, really isn't that big a deal. Controllers have more than enough hotbar real estate if you don't litter them with pointless clutter like emotes, mounts and minions.

    Dragoon would likely work best with 4 buttons for its primary melee combos: 1 for the Full Thrust Combo, 1 for the Chaos Thrust Combo, 1 for Fang and Claw, and 1 for Wheeling Thrust. The rotation would go from 1457612367 to 1224311134.

    I've sampled a tool that accomplishes this to figure out how I actually feel on the matter, because I'm someone who constantly hopes for more engaging combat.

    For me, personally, there is no difference in difficulty or execution between 1-2-3 and 1-1-1 on set in stone combos.

    Ideally, I'd like to move into more thought provoking combos and job play and away from brainless 123. Short of that, I'm ok with combining these actions together to make action bar organization better.

    Im sure SE are happy to make all jobs just pressing a single button...jesus the game is already a cake walk lets not make it force to wear the handicap sign
