The Job playstyle of Final Fantasy

First, I'd see that no one bothers to mention this or if they have, then they were ignored by the fact that some players do not really think around it enough to notice nor realize how low it is to ignore diversity of game play, therefore why do some Jobs currently do not play right? for example, AST had a very unique play style with its buff and it was not too difficult to boost your allies in battle which made everything to know and learn the battlefield. Second, SCH had Eos and Selene, the play style of both fairies were diverse . . . . . . Eos was only auto healing support and Selene was a status effect remover while having her own unique boost abilities, therefore it was a whole different tier of its own in terms of play style as a Healer. Third, BLM, SAM, WAR, have gone through a major change in the past times and it seem like they are removing exactly what makes them unique for their specific (BLM, SAM)brutal DPS and spike-flesh(WAR). Finally, the point that I am trying to make sense in this thread is that Final Fantasy Jobs always had a difference in each role and play style that made it different and unique in its own, so I hope this made sense and I hope no one thinks I am being a cry baby over their changes . . . . . . I really like Final Fantasy XIV and the world of Eorzea has so much to offer, although the way these major elements of game play with the Job system for certain parts of it is ruining the whole point of what makes Final Fantasy be "Final Fantasy".

I kinda get where you're coming from... except of all the jobs, BLM and SAM (for entirely different reasons) have probably changed the least.
Hell BLM is notorious for not changing anything, just adding to it, because it's Yoshi Ps main.
    And what is 'spike-flesh'?

I feel you, but the playerbase asked for it to be like this so...

Btw, the word you're looking for is "homogenization". It's a common thing in mmos, you can google it if you want to research on what you're feeling.

Maybe he's talking about Defiance making warriors have more HP and get healed more?

Didn't homogenization like this kill off WoW?

I've seen players asking for 1 button combos, so maybe this isn't a big deal to folks. I really miss how DRK used to play, SCH with its poison spreading + Manual control of Embrace, and how AST used to have cards that weren't just a weaker version of the Balance.

The only way we can return to really unique jobs is if we go back to "command-based" gameplay where you tell your character what to do every 5-10 seconds. This is the reality we have to live with. Games like this gain some semblance of uniqueness when they add more weapon types for job.

A game very similar to FFXIV which used different weapon types very well was White Knight Chronicles 2. At some point they'll have to stop adding jobs, that's when I really recommend they start adding new weapon types instead, but use the same weapon model for 10 levels straight to reduce the strain in having to create too many of them. This would also add new weapon stances and animations and the like, hammer stance for Warrior needs to be a thing. Another job that would heavily benefit from getting new weapons and animations is Summoner, they could finally get their summoning staff.

FFXI jobs felt more like how they're meant to be played but they're not balanced. FFXIV developers care more about balance and FFXIV players care more about parse numbers
