Objective-based PVP can be a lot of fun but it's less enjoyable than the siege warfare PVP which has become prevalent in newer PVP game modes in recent years.
FFXIV PVP is not fun to me because it's a downgrade from the fun I've had with PVPing in other games. WvW in GW2 promoted competition and it was great fun even when we got demolished by Blackgate, Cyrodill from ESO will always have a fond place in my heart for its persistent, continuous sieging and action combat (I have yet to leave Cyrodill to this day), where Albion Online's open world PVP is greatly enjoyable and the rewards for it feel worthwhile because the game revolves around PVP.
I feel uninvolved in the results of Frontline matches because I'm disconnected from the ability to pick a group which removes the sense of belonging. I wouldn't mind if we got a DC vs DC mode at all, but it would probably be a mess due to how individual servers and DCs tend to crap out.
I enjoy Feast but long queue times and the fact that I can't queue with friends totally kill it for me.
