    Job Idea: Foebreaker (Healer)

    *Please note, this was designed purely for fun and I do NOT expect SE to implement it in any way, shape, or form.*

    Foebreaker (FOE)
    Damage Reducing Healer with Melee DPS
    Weapon: Whips/Whipblades
    Attack: Slashing, Melee-Range
    Gear: Aiming
    Limit Break: One For All
    Role Abilities: Healer
    Important Stats: DEX for Damage and Healing, MP for Spell cost
    Inspiration: Foebreaker from XII: The Zodiac Age, Orator/Mediator from Tactics, Seven from Type-0, Saboteur from XIII, Leblanc from X-2


    TL;DR Version
    Orator + BDSM Dom Healer
    Focuses on decreasing damage party recieves and damage enemies deal
    Place stacks on enemies with basic weaponskill combo and uses stacks as cost for certain abilites
    DPS based on Melee-Ranged weaponskills and abilites but has a stance that increase their range to 15 yalms (with a 10% reduction to damage dealt)

    Special Mechanics
    Insults Stacks
    In order for a Foebreaker to physically break a foe, they first mentally break them.
    Certain offensive skills have a chance to place an Insult Stack on enemies.
    These Insult Stacks can then be used as the cost for certain skills.
    A single enemy can have up to 3 Insult Stacks from a user on them at a time.

    Rends
    The main use of Insult stacks, Rends target a specific attribute of an enemy and weaken it based on the amount of Insult Stacks the target had.
    However, once the Rend is over, the target will gain resolve, becoming immune to that Rend for a certain amount of time.
    A target can only have 1 Rend effect on them at a time.

    Special Gauge(s): Psyche Gauge
    Shows the amount of Insults a selected target has, if they have a Resolve effect on them and how much time they have left, and shows if Spiritbreaker is activated.


    Skills

    Insult-based Skills
    -Armor Rend: oGCD Ability. Uses up all Insult Stacks on a target. Increase Damage done onto a selected target by 6% for 5 seconds per Insult Stack used. Afterwards, the target will gain a Armor Resolve buff, making it immune to Armor Rend for 120 seconds. Instant cast time. 60 second cooldown.
    -Condemnation: oGCD Ability. Places up to 3 Insult Stacks on a selected target. Instant cast time. 100 second cooldown.
    -Insult to Injury: oGCD Ability. Uses up all Insult Stacks. Damage a selected target and all enemies with in 5 yalms of them. Potency of 200 per Insult Stack used. Instant cast time. 90 second cooldown.
    -Love Tap: oGCD Ability. Uses up 1 Insult Stack on a target. Damage the selected target. Has a 50% chance of placing an Insult stack on the target. Potency of 120. Instant cast time. 5 second cooldown.
    -Power Rend: oGCD Ability. Uses up all Insult Stacks on a target. Decrease Damage a target can do by 5% per Insult Stack used for 15 seconds. Afterwards, the target will gain a Power Resolve buff, making it immune to Power Rend for 120 seconds. Instant cast time. 60 second cooldown.
    -Threaten: oGCD Ability. If any enemy with in 8 yalms of the user has at least 1 Insult Stack, remove it. Decrease the damage all enemies affected can do by 5% for 10 seconds. Instant cast time. 90 second cooldown.
    -Schadenfreude: oGCD Ability. Uses up 1 Insult Stack on a target. Whenever a partymember damages the affected via Spell, Weaponskill, or Ability, they recieve a 200 potency heal. Instant cast time. 120 second cooldown.
    -Venom Tongue: oGCD Ability. Place an Insult Stack on all enemies with in 8 yalms of the user. Instant cast time. 60 second cooldown.
    -Wasp Sting: oGCD Weaponskill. Uses up 1 Insult Stack on the selected target.. Damage the selected target for 18 seconds. Potency of 30. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    +Swarm Sting: oGCD Weaponskill. Upgrade of Wasp Sting. Uses up 1 Insult stack on the target. Damage the selected target for 30 seconds. Potency of 50. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.

    Healing Skills
    -Altruism: GCD Spell. Heal all partymembers with in 15 yalms of the user. Potency of 300. 1.5 second cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    -Heartfelt Plea: GCD Spell. Resurrect a selected target in a weakened condition. 8 second cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    -Patronize: GCD Spell. Heal a selected target. Potency of 400. 1.5 second cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    +Praise: GCD Spell. Upgrade of Patronize. Heal a selected target. Additionally, if the target takes damage equal to double the amount that was just healed with in 5 seconds of being healed, the enemy that inflicted damage last will receive an Insult stack. Potency of 550. 1.5 second cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    -Fortify: oGCD Ability. Heal a selected target. Additionally, decrease damage the target receives by 10% for 10 seconds. Potency of 500. 50 second cooldown. Gains 1 additional charge via the Enhanced Fortify trait (Max Charges: 2)
    -Phalanx: oGCD Ability. For 30 seconds, envelopes the user in a 10 yalm healing aura that heals any partymember inside. Additionally, decrease damage all partymembers inside the aura receive by 2% per partymember affected. Potency of 100. Instant cast time. 90 second cooldown.
    -Valiance: oGCD Ability. Decrease the damage all partymembers with in 20 yalms of the user receives by 10% for 9 seconds. Once this effect wears off, all affected partymembers will be healed. Potency of 400. Instant cast time. 60 second cooldown. Gains 1 additional charge via the Enhanced Valiance trait (Max Charges: 2).

    Offensive Skills
    -Whiplash: GCD Weaponskill. Damage a selected target. Additionally, places an Insult stack on the target. Potency of 150. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    -Jeering Lash: GCD Weaponskill. Damage a selected target. Potency of 100. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    Combo: Whiplash > Jeering Lash: Potency of 200. Additionally, places an Insult stack on the target.
    -Death Sentence: GCD Weaponskill. Damage a selected target. Potency of 100. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown
    Combo: Jeering Lash > Death Sentence: Potency of 300. Additionally, places an Insult stack on the target.
    -Whirlwhip: GCD Weaponskill. Damage all enemies with in 8 yalms of the user. Potency of 100. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    -Sadistic Spikes: oGCD Ability. Places a 5 yalm valley of spikes where the user was standing for 30 seconds that will damage all enemies with in and place a 20% Slow on them that last for 7 seconds. Potency of 10. Instant cast time. 60 second cooldown.

    Other Skills
    -Fervor: oGCD Spell. Decrease damage a selected target takes by 10% for 9 seconds. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.
    -Grappling Lash: oGCD Ability. Rush towards a selected enemy from up to 15 yalms away. Insant cast time. 30 second cooldown.
    -Spiritbreaker: oGCD Ability. Stance. While activated, the user can hit enemy targets with weaponskills, abilities, and auto-attacks from up to 15 yalms away but all damage the use does is decreased by 10%. Instant cast time. 2.5 second cooldown.

    Design Notes:
    I wanted to make a job that used a whip as a weapon. My thoughts were that a whip is best for disarming/disabling and intimidating enemies.
    I also wanted the job to be the opposite of AST, debuffing enemies vs buffing allies.

    Interestingly, SE did consider a whip-using class back when FFXIV 1.0 was still in development, according to a certain design document that has been floating around the net for years - apparently it was going to be called 'Flayer', alas, nothing ever came of it sadly.

    Your ideas are interesting, although I probably wouldn't have it as a healer, as a whip just doesn't go with that image. Still, good work.

    ...healer. what?

    A melee healer will always be a no from me.

    I'd love Foebreaker as a maiming melee job with some debuffing abilities. It would suit something like a hammer or mace. It could be a slow heavy hitter with rdps potential.

    For me, I like the idea of healers not being stuck with just caster-friendly weapons and gear.

    Yes by insulting them then breaking either their offense or defense.
    I agree about breaking the caster mold, but Chemist could do that much better.


    Seems like an unnecessary work around for an unnecessary problem.


    For a lore perspective, this is SCH. A lot of their skills are literally just yelling encouragement at party members or insults at enemies. Even Broil in Japanese is called something that could be understood as 'heated argument' I believe.
    SCH is basically Orator.
