ARR EX trials are soloable unsynced. PF has no way to lock against people who cleared them unsynced.

Of course not. But if you join a pf that says that you're basically lying if you only cleared it unsync. It's your choice and you might get through just fine. But I honestly think we'll see it.
I honestly hope I'm wrong on that one, but if I'm not i'll be back with a screenshot and say "I told you so" lol.
I'm sure it'll be the same like any other high end duties. People will clear it early and just run duty complete ASAP. No need to check for Shiva EX.Of course not. The only nitpick I have with sync is materia. Materia is useless in so much content, it's surprising they don't just scale it down along with your gear (so if you're scaled to il130, your grade VIII becomes grade IV's). 435 is an interesting bracket where you can't get much advantage from melded gear too, the closest is 430 artifact gear and that melded isn't really that much better than 435 unmelded.
But it's just a nitpick, it's fine to have everyone on an even playing field for gear, especially if they want it to feel like experiencing it as it was back in the day. Letting you zerg it would go against the whole point.

This is a bit nitpicky I know and its not like it really bothers me, but i've also noticed how people with worse gear than me have more hp than me in synced content![]()
For one patch... then as gear progresses, they'll be "punished" again anyway.
This isn't a new trial that follows gear progression.
It's a old trial rereleased as part of a new form of casual side content that will cycle.
It's moogle tomes in a different form.
It's wonderous tails.
You don't complain that all of the old content involved in those is ilvl synced.

No you're right, I don't complain when I do wondrous tails because I can unsync it, and I don't have to run leviathan extreme minimum ilv every time. For one patch... then as gear progresses, they'll be "punished" again anyway.

This version of shiva is minimum ilv 430 and max ilv 435 which means that depending on how they tune it, people stuck on dps checks will get no way of easily outgearing it and therefore isn't casual content. So if it's not casual content, why can't we use our better gear?
Unless they make it super easy, but then what's the point of it exactly?? Just run the old one unsynced.
They aren't being punished. It's a mini-game.
It's honestly quite funny seeing people quaking in their boots about not being able to ilvl cheese their way through SHIVA EX (one of the easiest EXs ever). If you have ilvl 500 gear, you should be able to smash this Unreal Trial synced or not because you SHOULD know your rotations much more than the average player.
I don't know who you're talking to exactly while quoting me because I've already cleared and farmed the old extreme fight in ARR.
My issue here is that if this is indeed aimed at newbies, and is supposed to be casual content, forcing the ilv to be only between 430 and 435 makes it either:
Really hard for newbies because if you're at that ilv outside of this content you probably haven't mastered your rotation etc yet, even the ronkan set is 440.
or
Really easy for everyone because they undertuned it, in which case, what is this content's purpose? If it's supposed to be upsynced but it's weak why not just do the original unsynced.
Please don't tell me "but it's for the fun glam rewards" because they could've easily just updated wondrous tails.
But I guess neither of you even bother reading my first post in this thread because you both didn't understand my concern with the sync.

The fight doesn't have to be hard as nails OR a cake walk. Difficult scaling is not black and white. It could be exactly tuned for the average ilvl 435 with no outgearing required. It could be another Memoria where it's harder than any dungeon the game has to offer, but still easy for Extreme and meant for casual players since the DPS check is lax but the mechanics are punishing enough.
Lambasting a fight based on ilvl alone is stupid.
