Thread: 5.3 Sundry Splendors

5.3 special site updated with Sundry Splendors:

Any adventurer worth their salt is sure to have amassed a wealth of tokens and tomestones during the course of their journey. While earning them is where the challenge lies, finding the right place to exchange them can often be something of a trial in itself. Fortunately, Rowena's House of Splendors has now assigned vendors to major city-states as one-stop shops for sundry rewards!

So, does this mean we don't have to go to each expansion's hub to buy tomestone gear?

That's exactly what it means. Doesn't apply for ShB gear tho.

For some reason, it was left out of the live letter digest, but it was also said in the LL that the gear they sell is also already augmented, so you don't need to waste extra poetics on the upgrade items.

Has that been confirmed in the part 2 live letter for 5.3?

we’re also considering making it so that only augmented versions of previous tomestone gear is available for purchase.

It was also mentioned in part 2, where it was confirmed.

It doesn't actually specifically say it doesn't sell ShB gear, but there's no way they'd sell augmented current tier gear, at least.

Ok, that's nice if they decided on it for 5.3. I thought it was going to be for future patch.

That's excellent. I assume that means we don't have to unlock endgame vendors to buy that gear? I've got characters at Lv70 and with a full stash of poetics but they're nowhere near the end of Stormblood yet.

I wonder if they're setting up shop in those market stalls that have been empty forever, or if they're just being added to the collectibles stall?

I do hope that doesn't stop them from having endgame hubs in the future though.

This is just so that new people don't have to learn where every past endgame hub was, and figure out which NPC sells the gear, weapon tokens, and upgrade tokens; which NPC trades weapon tokens for the weapon; and which NPC upgrades everything; for each expansion.

I would assume this also means that because it's so easy to over level before you hit the end of an expansion, it means you can get your shire gear, for example, before you finish the Heavensward story and unlock the vendors in Idyllshire.

We'll still have endgame hubs, the vendor is specifically for poetics gear, to save time and confusion on gearing up at 50/60/70.
I wonder if you'll have access to all poetics gear from the get go or if you'll have to reach certain checkpoints in MSQ first. I guess there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get scaevan gear in HW if you are overleveled to 70.
