Honestly, I like the idea of Ivalice Moogles but given how the team delivered Viera and Hrothgar (in addition to lack of action and general poor implementation) I'm just REALLY worried it'd either be reskinned Lala with ears OR they'd tie the hair to the ears/face and again get a kneecapped race with a lack of love and care.
Call me pessimistic but I don't have any hope for it.
I would go the opposite of the so-kawaii-you-wanna-punch-them lalafell and go somewhere more into the realm of Kobolds from D&D
We could go with Trolls, small but ugly as a contrast to Lalafell (which small and cute, also could also have Gnome or Dwarf aesthetics, esp considering their First counterparts)
In d&d trolls are around 9' tall so they really wouldn't work as a small race, but at 2'-3' d&d kobolds work wonderfully. And they are bestial which would also make the ppl who are looking for more non-beauty options happy.
I was speaking in general, not just in regard to DnD, that said I did overlook that that Trolls in Dragon Quest are also rather large. Still think they could work with smaller body frames, but then again depening on what facial features the devs decided to use if they go that route they might be as limited as Viera/Hrothgar
Please don't introduce more footballs into the game. The only thing lalas are good for currently are sacrificial rituals while raiding ultimates for an easy clear or being punted like a football to Narnia.
