Most consistent dps class throughout ffxiv lifespan. Planning on switching mains.

Hello! I was wondering which dps class is the most consistent through ff14's lifespan?

I am a pretty noob player so i cant really handle switching mains or to flavor of the month everytime a new update / expansion comes out.

So i was wondering which dps stayed consistently good throughout the whole ff14 from ARR to shadowbringer?

Except for BLM or melee dps classes (like i said, i am noob so positionings isnt for me)

I play bard mostly because its easy and mobile which means i can focus more on dodging mechanics without getting punished. But the thing is, eber since my static stopped playing the game, its a lil difficult for me to find pug groups as bard because people keep saying bard's dps is too low and doesnt provide much to the party like dancer.

So i am thinking which class does consistently good dmg. Doesnt necessarily have to top damage charts. Like being in the middle ground or average dps atleast.

Is there such class? Or every expansion every patch, all the classes rotates and will force players to switch to another class if their main class sucks that expansion or patch?

I want a class the stays consistently good or average and never roller coaster.

I was thinking of smn but ive read that smn is always bad at beginning of expacs then gradually becomes good dps. Like people are saying 5.0 smn are trash to play but now their top DPS. i dont like that. I just want a class that is good throughou.

Your a noob but you have a static?

anyways Ive played through SB and SHB with a few raids easily regardless of Meta Ive never once had anyone tell me to switch jobs as anything can out damage a corpse. Play what you like and the jobs wont be severely updated for a long time until the trials are long outdated so i feel theres no need. Bard might be OP in 6.0 or Dancer might be useless who knows but it wont change for a very long time.

unless your monk ive heard they're trying to fix it mid expansion.

Every job is viable. What matters most is that you can play your job well and enjoy it.
Jobs are balanced well enough that the difference in dps is only really consistent at the highest percentile.

DNC has the lowest damage output technically, but a good DNC will beat a bad BLM or SAM any day.

Try a few out and see what you're best at.

Then you should avoid MMOs altogether.
All classes get tweaked with each expansion, so which ones are on top will change.

But don't worry too much about which class is supposed to be "best" or "worst" - they are all viable, and player skill matters more than which class you chose.

SAM and RDM are consistent and easy. Not much you can do to screw up unless you try really hard playing bad. They've played pretty much the same since release with very little variations.

MCH, DRG and SMN are constantly changing every expansion and patch. NIN and BRD are genuinely hard, so might wanna avoid those too.

MNK is getting reworked so we don't know.

DNC no idea. Heard it's a "just press whatever lights up" sort of proc rotation, not too hard and apparently engaging.

It really doesn't seem like there are enough changes that would drastically change things, and honestly if doesn't seem like most people would turn down a person because of a specific class. Just pick something that you enjoy the aesthetics or current gameplay of and deal with the changes.

I would suggest SAM/RDM/DNC for the quickest leveling process. Whichever you enjoy the most.

Currently, Sam is a lot harder than Nin because of Tsubame raid buff alignment.

(Been doing savage with both classes.) Sam is only easy if you don't care about optimization and losing a lot of dps. (Not trying to be rude. It's just that if someone mains Sam expecting easy big daddy dps, they are going to be hit with harsh reality when Savage Parties kick them out for low dps.)

I suggest leveling all DPS to 80 in case they screw up your main in a patch/expansion.

If not, well I suggest long rage or casters: SMN is a caster with mobility, MCH is a bit similar to BRD with no dot or song management.

And lastly, RDM and DNC are the easiest classes.

You've limited your DPS options to the following:

Dancer - still too new to know if it's viable in the long-term. It offers good utility but has the lowest damage in the game, and needs a large amount of player skill and attentiveness to stacking party buffs in order to make up for that. This will be trickier to do in PUGs

    Bard - your current job

Machinist - currently high damage, but has had many, many times where the job was outshined by other jobs doing more damage and offering more utility. Job has been pretty volatile in its positioning over all three expansions since it was introduced.

Summoner - probably the closest one to what you're looking for. Often has good damage while offering some limited utility in terms of skills like Devotion and Everlasting Flight while also having a battle raise.

Red Mage - the job has been often viewed as a prog job for its ability to chain raise, and then often gets pressured to change to summoner or black mage once teams know a fight.

So... there is no job that always is well polished and you won't ever have to change. This is also true across other roles. BUT thing is you'll always do better on a job you understand and love than on a job you don't. And the differences between jobs in a role, usually, is so minor that people complaining about "you can't play that job because it's not optimal" are probably people you don't want to play with anyway. Every job is viable in raid. Just learn it well, and play it to the best of your ability, and if a job changes and you don't enjoy playing it, that's when you should consider changing.

Play what you enjoy the most or you'll be constantly disappointed. I speak from experience...in a previous MMORPG I decided at one point to play a certain class "for my guild" because that's what we needed for our progression raid team, and I was not happy because I wasn't playing the class I actually wanted to play. It felt good helping the guild, but not good enough to outweigh the boredom of playing a class I didn't enjoy.

To the first part....NIN and BRD is hard? I don't know about that. I find NIN fun as hell, and actually easy to learn DPS. Yet still complex. BRD is pew pew pew with procs.

MNK is by far the most consistent DPS the game has seen from ARR to now....that's sarcasm and a joke. MNK needs change lol...so don't choose monk if you want consistent DPS because it's going to change. FINALLY!

RDM for me has literally the simplest rotation of all the DPS. RDM is RNG but good RNG if that even makes sense.

And I think everyone will laugh at this, but I find BLM hard to play. I just never sat well with me since my rotation will change every 10 levels after 50 drastically. BLM to me is very deep...and kind of confusing...*go ahead laugh it's fine*

    MCH go brrrrrrr

Have yet to level DRG but I hear good things...for a floor tank.

SAM is a wreaking ball and easy from where I stand

DNC is only unlocked for me

SMN is just crazy fast APM followed with some slower lull's and has changed quite a bit from HW til now so I wouldn't expect it to stay the same in 6.0

BLU is....well solo...so maybe someday we can hit bosses with flying sardines....someday
