I mean, it is a valid point that helps keep some things in perspective. 2020 is a bit of a dumpster fire at this point, and losing a holiday event in a video game is rather minor compared to everything else happening. That's not to say you can't be disappointed and bummed out, but you do have to keep in mind that this is affecting so much outside of our virtual world, and some things are just going to be cut.

I love Halloween and I love game events, so I totally get it..just gotta keep some perspective.

This and the dev team clearly did the best the can and said "We apologize to those who were looking forward to All Saints’ Wake, but we ask for your understanding in this matter."

And people STILL take to the forums to whine. People are dying due to this pandemic. Sorry you don't get to transform into an NPC but this dev team is working their butts off for us. They deserve better during this time.

You can be disappointed of course but maturity is just taking it instride and being a compassionate individual when the games producer acknowledges it and asks for understanding.

That's one thing I like about FFXI more than XIV, the events are based on the world of the game instead of celebrating events that people can already celebrate in real life.

They tune all of the events to make sense in game lore, and they all differ slightly to their real life counterparts.

I'm no expert on XI, but just looking at the list of seasonal events many of them are based on real world events, just like XIV. It would be nice if MMOs had more original events but even when they try to create something new it's gonna feel like it's based on something in RL, since living beings are going to have a lot of the same types of needs and experiences.

There's Valentines Day, Doll Festival/Girls Day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and New Years events in FFXI. There are also non-real world events in FFXI, but to imply FFXI didn't have events based off of real world holidays/events is just silly.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I can understand the disappointment. But... also I'm happy they're taking a break from it too. The Haukke Manor thing was fun and interesting a few years ago, but even now it's just kind of dull to see it again year after year. I feel the same way about the hedge maze for Valentine's

Same, I'm getting tired of those reused minigames being required to get all the limited time items.
