    Dual Gunner Class in Marauder's Guild

    It would be nice to see the class symbol that's posted in the marauder's guild with two guns be utilized in game. I was looking through FF lore for which class might make the most sense, and came down with either Cannoneer (https://www.ffcompendium.com/h/jobs/ff5.shtml#cannoneer), Gunner (https://www.ffcompendium.com/h/jobs/gunner.shtml#FFX2), Corsair (https://www.ffcompendium.com/h/jobs/gambler.shtml#FF11), or a Ravager (Gun Mage, but more Sazh than FFX-2's https://www.ffcompendium.com/h/jobs/bluemage.shtml#FFX2).

    As I mentioned in an earlier thread, that class's identity is known. It's called 'Musketeer' (MSK for short), and was planned for the game since the original 1.0 version, however SE never implemented it (a number of NPCs use it though, Merlwyb being the most well-known example). It can be assumed they now have no plans at all to add it, presumedly because whatever they did have planned was cannibalized for MCH, and furthermore, for better or worse, MCH has basically replaced MSK in SE's eyes.

    So sadly, I can safely say MSK probably will never be added to the game now.

    MCH is leaning towards the uses of... Machines. Which goes away from the actual use of guns.
    There is one spot for caster, ranged and healer. Due to the community wish, we have big chance of getting a new healer for 6.0.

    We don't know if we'll get a second job but it would be most likely a DPS. Since there is already 4 Melees, the spot has a higher chance of going to Caster/Ranged.

    So far a lot of people think Beastmaster would get a spot. But little to no one expected DNC to be a ranged DPS so we might be surprised. And we have yet to confirm if the second job will be Beastmaster. The job could use a musket with a pet or an instrument, anything.

    It's not impossible (Yet low chance) that we get a new ranged job focused on the guns rather than heavy machineries. It's actually a common complain that the MCH kit being split between the use of gun and machines feels weird, the job might slowly shift to full machines.

    One thing is for sure, whatever happens we aren't gonna be getting a job that's just about the gun.
    One of the reasons they made MCH the way they did is because they said MCH just standing there shooting for all it's attacks looked really stiff and unengaging (iirc). They added all that extra stuff to give it more flair and give them more to work when when it comes to animating MCH's many attacks. That's also one of the reasons that a lot of their attacks make them look more like a gun mage than a regular gunner.

    It's a shame, I would love a dual pistol DPS class. At least I grabbed the GARO pistol before they took it out. It's resting pretty in my glamour dresser with the body piece.

    I wouldn't say MCH replaces Musketeer. MCH is barely using gun, nice low level animations with meaty gunshots got replaced with these awful heated sideflips. MCH can be fixed, but its awful one way or another since 3.0, so i'm losing hope.

    I could easily see a Ranged DPS with a similar theme to RDM.

    Red Mage builds up White and Black Mana, then spends that mana on a burst melee combo.

    What if they did something similar, but with a Ranged DPS?

    Not sure if it would be similar, where they use ranged attacks to build up to a melee burst, or melee attacks to build up to a ranged burst, but the theme would easily fit a Corsair or Cannoneer theme.

    Since Limsa Lominsa would be the natural place to pick up that job, it could also tie in somehow with the ROG storyline

    That said, I'm not sure if SE would want to dig up old coding nightmares due to similarities with ACN becoming both SMN and SCH.

    I was really hoping gunblade would be the reverse of rdm. :T Bulding up a resource with slashes and then jumping back to do big bursts of ranged damage.

    I know one guy on the forum is vying really hard for a gun and sword in tandem dps job and every time I see it I can only imagine a system sort of like this being the only real point to it. They could even call it a Musketeer and include flourishes from the popular view of "musketeers" in media with fancy swordplay in addition with marksmanship.
