Yeah, I guess so, still makes more sense than the mugging scene after. Igeyorhm could have saved herself a lot of bother by chucking you over the edge of that flying platform that's who knows how high in the sky.

In the first fight against Titan, we're going blind through an unmapped kobold aethernet. Y'shtola has to stay behind to maintain the aetherial flow to guide us to the right location so that we don't get lost somewhere under the mountain. She's able to join us afterwards, conveniently once the fight is already over. (It's not shown how the Garleans got down there to watch without being seen, but I'd assume Lahabrea helped.)Wasnt it also with Titan where Ysthola needed time to make the teleport ready? (Maybe I made this up in my own mind but feel like they once said that teleportation is not that easy and needs quite the concentration to successfully do it, which is probably why Alphinaud once "threw" his carbuncle at Titan before we left with teleportation) There as to be some restrictions otherwise we could have just all teleported out after the Uldah debacle or when we are caught by someone. (We did need the exarchs help after all when we got caught by grandpa.)
I don't know that it takes significant concentration, but it does require being able to stand still for a good five to ten seconds without being interrupted. We can't just stop and teleport away when we have guards chasing us down or other enemies right in our face. Basically, we can't cast Teleport or Return while in combat.
5.3 Spoilers down below
It pretty much is clear now, to me at least, how we were able to summon the party members in group duties. With the true soulstone and subconciously using AZEM's power we were able to do just that. The final fight against Elidibus shows that pretty clear too as we call the stars to our side.
