So, fleshing out my ideas for a third Au Ra clan, I present:
- "The Unworthy"
Unlike the stories of the Dawn Father and the Dusk Mother -- which are spoken of with pride -- there is another tale that is spoken of in more hushed tones.
It speaks of a child that was born of a once union between Azim and Nhaama. This child would be known as the Firstborn. Unlike the children of Azim -- who sport pristine ivory scales -- or the children of Nhaama -- whose scales are ebony -- this child's scales appeared a sickly green. His horns, misshapen, and his tail completely absent.
As the first children of the Raen and the Xaela came into existence, the Firstborn began to resent them. Where their scales shone with the love of the Dawn Father or Dusk Mother, his own had fallen away entirely. So, too, did his horns one day crack and crumble away.
But his eyes -- reptilian as they were -- glowed with hate, and malice, and fiery rage.
He turned his attentions towards understanding the 'monsters' of the world. He delved into the dark places, where only the most dangerous of predators called home, and learned to use their blood of make poisons, and to also commune with the dead. Eventually, he sought to rid the world of his perfect "siblings", attempting to poison the waters of the Steppe. That all of the Steppe's children might be as "unworthy" as he was.
Distraught, but with no other choice, Azim and Nhaama were forced to exile the Firstborn. Having judged himself to be so long ago, the Dawn Father and the Dusk Mother banished him. He eventually found refuge in far distant swamplands, for which he could be hidden from the world to work on his poisons and commune with the spirits of the dead. So too would his followers come to be known as "the Unworthy", carrying with them the same "flaws" that made him an outsider.
- Appearance stuff
My thinking is, just to mix things up a little bit, these guys wouldn't have tails at all. And in fact, I might even not have scales. Instead, I would go with kind of a "voodoo theme" for them, opting for darker skin-tones, but maybe with brightly-colored tribal paints?
Physically, I could see them being the same height, or perhaps shorter, than the other clans. For their Face options, however, I might honestly consider giving them misshapen horns, and maybe even options without horns at all (with more "normal-looking" ears, though maybe pointed and rough-looking). Their stance would be a little more intimidating; feet a little wider apart, not quite as far as male Miqo'te, but chin down, giving them more of a brooding posture.
I would, however, give them bright (maybe even slightly-glowing) reptile eyes. No "whites" of their eyes at all, but maybe being able to choose a "gradient" of colors, for a more "central" and "outer" colors? Something like this:

Culturally, I really like the idea of them clinging to more Voodoo ritualistic vibes. Hailing from distant swamplands, they would have reverence towards their witch-doctors, masters of both medicines and poisons. This would be a culture that more openly embraces "shady" classes and maybe even holding assassins in some great esteem.
Generally a morbid, self-serving sort of people, but perhaps also placing much value in remembering the dead, believing that the spirits of the dead still haunt those places where they died, so the act of assassinating someone in their home is, in some ways, a better fate than dying on some distant battlefield, far away from the people and places familiar to them in life.
Just a thought!
Like I said, I am a *HUGE* fan of the Au Ra, and the Xaela specifically! So the idea of introducing a "third clan" for them is a pretty tall task. I thought something like this could be kind of interesting, though!
