Awful analogy. /Say and /shout are not important. There is no meaningful interaction in them. They're relics of bygone MMO social ideology. If people insist on using them, fine, people can do whatever they want, but that does make them important.

Don't worry just keep a lookout for a post saying how many rmt accounts that were banned for whichever month then please look forward to another then another and then..... Yes I'm being sarcastic I like see something done, but I made another chat box shouts/say/tell off and switch to it if in a city state a crap solution..

This is just going to get worse. I heard they are going Free to Play up to lvl 60 and free Stormblood unlock. So prepare to tab your chat channels.
If the same chat restrictions apply, they won't be able to /shout or /tell. It's not going to be worse, because the main hubs of activity are still the 2.X cities.
One way to kill the spam in this game is to just switch chat to Battle mode. I use it whenever I have to spend time in Limsa.

I honestly think they should limit accounts to 8 max. You can still purchase four more accounts to bring the total back up to 40 in a data center so you won't lose those lvl 1 alts that you've had since ARR. Having a 40 character limit is just too much for an average person, especially the demographic that this game is trying to cater too. If they limit character accounts to 8 max you've reduced RMT bots by 80%, per account, and you got rid of people who have lvl 1 alts with names that they are holding on to that others want to use. It's a win-win IMO with SE getting more subs from people with disposable income and slowing down RMT enough to where it becomes a bigger obstacle to spam said RMT.
Example: 5 RMT accounts * 40 = 200 bots vs 5 RMT accounts * 8 = 40 bots. It's pretty clear which would reduce the spam.
They also need to implement a flag system where "Report for RMT" gets time stamped and is tallied up server side for the devs to look at. It doesn't take a genius to if see lots of people are reporting, Gewruiwe Ghghghgjgkf: www .buyxgold. xc0m, in /shout is clearly a bot. From there they can proceed to investigate the account or if multiple characters linked to the account is reported they can ban at their leisure and not the waves that we've been getting because that is clearly not working. If there is an element or randomness to an account ban RMT will have to go through more hurdles to ensure they aren't running at a loss.
Ultimately RMT is the combination of others looking to exploit lazy or uninformed player and Dev's inability to asses the seriousness of the situation. Though with the amount of RMT spam I jokingly think that the dev team are slow to ban RMT accounts just so they can brag about their registered player numbers to the public.
I'm not sure how that would actually change anything because the bots aren't using alts plus when they get banned, they ban the entire account, not just the character.I honestly think they should limit accounts to 8 max. I've actually seen low level bots farming gil by spamming the Hall of Novice trials as they give 200ish gil per reclear (Which takes a little under two minutes for the fastest DPS trial), which isn't much at all but would add up very quickly when you've got 50+ bots doing it simultaneously.
