Best Advice to Square ever

If my name is lAHASjyhwhejkwenmnsdzcs kjhawjkdhajkhdjkashdkjah and I type the word Gold in Shout and /Say then I probably do not have the best intentions.

Seriously other MMO devs have atleast figured this out 8+ years ago how to control the Shout spam.

Come on guys! You can design Ultimate Alexander but banning this is not possible?

Sadly it's kind of hard, have you seen Welsh Names? Sea Wolf Roegadyn names are basically in Welsh. At the same time, I get less Gold seller spam than WOW. The worst game for it is B&S. So yah... I would love to see them gone, but kind of hard. If they make a naming rule that bans an account for vowel use and saying gold, it's going to hit a lot of RP players.

Most celtic languages have names and words that can appear as gibberish to those unfamiliar with the languages.

Gil sellers always find a way to promote their business. There is nothing anyone can do to completely stop them. As long as players are able to speak freely in a chat without moderation, gil sellers can too.

It would be nice if after reporting RMT using the chat tool that they're automatically muted from appearing in your chatbox. That would do a lot to help with the spam.

Yes but you could look into every 10-30+ mill gil transaction... or FC's that make 300 mill a day or smt like this... with the internal data they have or can gather by observing them, there must be some ways to at least slow em down. Worst case do a 24 hour limit of gil you can hand over/receive...

And finally, nothing stops SE from just buying a bot themselves and really look into them, and keeping em up to date to counter em.

There is literally no way for a low lvl character to earn enough gil to sell without it being given to them.

There is, they spam the lv 50 dungeons and stuff, now with the higher level stuff included...



Untimately i dont see why they can even go anywhere a normal player cant go, normally the server should instandly kill em if they went out of boundry. IDK why the "client" can just state "yo im X66 Y13 and Z-20" without the server even checking if you can go there...

Since SE has no intention of dedicated policing of the chat for things like that, what they could do is give us a client-side filter. Just a regex list in a text file, and anything matching it gets dropped before being printed into the chat box.

Oh and also, in WOW, they use addons to really get the spam out, if you play on a high pop server and make a new alt, as soon as the opening cinematic is done you are hit with a bunch of guild invites which are gold seller ads. Walkthrough the capital city with an RP addon, mouse over a guy, goldseller spam on his RP tooltip. Walk outside the city, gold seller spam Duel invites, basically, the only relief to goldseller spam in WOW is to shut down chat and use discord, or move to an empty server. Fortunately, there are a lot of dead servers in WOW.

WoW's problems are very different. If you ever have a conversation with the gold sellers they will tell you they know the exact timing of the GM rotations. My advice to Square would be to look at Aion and how hard they clamped down it gold sellers after that MMO launched wayyyyy back when.

They restricted what trial accounts could do. Lets be serious here it is not some level 80 and rarely a hacked account these days spamming this stuff. it is someone on a trial very low level.

I think they could crack down further on the low level accounts.

Well whatever magic they are using now to spam is getting old. They are making it through and I have been reporting identical messages for well over a year now.

The problem is the RMT spammers don't use trial accounts and are actually paying for the starter edition (Albeit via credit chargeback fraud).

I think they'd have to impose mandatory chat/trade restrictions on characters below a certain level and/or created recently to have much of an effect on them.
