Selling/buying housing plots and apartments

I've looked around for a plot and noticed the difficulty in buying and selling them. Is there a reason SE is making it this difficult? Shouldn't there just be an option in your housing menu to transfer ownership? The way it is now opens up for a ton of problems, including being scammed. I also, for the life of me, don't understand that a single player is allowed to buy up several plots, some even buy complete wards, since the number of plots available are quite limited.

SE doesn't want you to sell it.
That's why SE makes it difficult to sell it.

People were using houses as a commodity back in the day, and SE said to stop it.
It's not like it stops people from selling their FC that has a house, but that's a sketchy grey area workaround that is probably not something you want to advertise yourself as doing.

Also a single character cannot buy up several plots anymore, SE has locked that option as well. They didn't take houses away from players that did, because they didn't do anything wrong in getting the houses. But these days you cannot.

Well, aren't houses a commodity? I don't see anything wrong in that, especially since they blocked players from buying up properties. If I buy a plot, build a house, and find a larger plot that someone wants to sell me, sure, I'll sell my smaller plot, if I got the gil they ask. Why does everything have to be made so complicated?

I think the correct way to do it is to reimburse them whatever they paid, and expropriate the plots, for the good of the community. That's what the governments do in real-life, and I don't see any reason why SE should act any different. It's not like those players will quit the game over that, considering their investment in the game, while others might quit because it's damned near impossible to get a house, unless you buy on the open market.

because people being people we can't have nice things. people were flipping plots at grossly extreme overpricing. ridiculous pricing. Square enix said enough is enough. that's why the system changed.

except that this is a GAME. whether or not you have a house is irrelevant. it is not necessary for everyone to have a house (even though everyone would like one). The devs are effectively in a corner and cannot get out of what they've made of the housing system. short of taking housing away from everyone and starting over, i would not expect to see changes at all. that's just me being pessimistic but i find wishing for sweeping change of the game's systems is something most people should not be doing. it is a literal waste time thinking up pie in the sky wishes for the game that will never happen.

And I hope it stays this way... before people with good connection would log on housing release day with their friends before everyone else could and sprint to the "popular" plots and buy as many as they could.. only to sell them later for a crazy amount! I remember a player bought a medium house we wanted and then he PFed the house for sale... we asked him how much out of curiosity and he requested 100mil ... imagine that crap comes back...

I'm surprised I'm here before the one person that always shows up in threads about housing.

It would be nice to be able to sell a house to a friend or someone who was maybe newer to the game but never had a chance to get a house, but thanks to people that have to ruin everything because they're selfish, now that's basically impossible.

People still do this, except with Free Company houses. A large plot, not even the FC, is worth 300m minimum on Balmung. And this is also ward specific so I would guess Goblet may go for 250m because for some reason no one likes the Goblet.

If anything the prices may go UP because of the lock on the timers. Not to mention RMT being an option for some.
