Is there any tanks that feel like your playing a tank and not a DPS ?

So far I feel like I'm playing a DPS class. My DK is only lvl 57 but almost all of the mitigation is made passively. I just try to deal as much dmg as I can while making sure that I keep aggro but I could be playing my samouraï and it would feel like its the same gameplay. My Warrior feel the same.

I just do lower numbers and I have zero queue time.

Does it change at higher level ?

There is other tank that feel more engaged ?

I think much of this is because of the change in how enmity works. In ARR and HW, you had to work for that enmity -- meaning you had to actively keep aggro on every individual mob. What with how tank stances work now too, you don't need to worry about an enmity combo either. You just pop it and go to town. All in all, tanking has gotten much easier than it used to be. A little too easy, if you ask me. I, personally, enjoyed having to actively work for my enmity, and it made sense to me back then that this was the job I was supposed to be doing as a tank.

I'm not too well-versed in which tank is the most enganging at present, but I would think Paladin. Other more seasoned tank-players feel free to chime in.

During ARR and HW you didn't really need to work at generating enmity. You would pop on Shield Oath, Defiance or Grit and would generate sufficient enmity just by doing your Tank Stance dps rotation. Enmity combos were mostly ignored unless they were your highest dps combo (i.e. RoH spam and Butcher's Block). It was only when a tank was stance dancing for higher dps that enmity became a problem.

All jobs in FFXIV are DPS classes but tank and healers have some other duties

I'm with Ultimatecalibur here. This game has never really been hard whatsoever to hold aggro. Not since 1.x when you needed to use WAR's Convolusion on a BLM at start, and provoke gave you a set amount of enmity generation points as opposed to putting you at the top of the list+1.

Provoke and tank stances have been baked into 2.0 onward and have just made the game easy mode as far as tanking.

All jobs have been DPS jobs with the veil/illusion of more since 2.0

Having your own DPS potentially gutted because one of your DPS was a lazy bum that decide to not use Diversion, forcing you to use more enmity combos, was not what I would call enjoyable.

Paladin is def the most tank like right now.
It barely has a combo and almost no oGCD attacks so you won't feel like you're playing a DPS, and it's got the most tools to help protect the party.
Though it really doesn't sound like any of the tanks will be able to give you what you want, and not just because you're looking for a more involved emnity system that just doesn't exist in FF14.

I just seem to recall tanking back in ARR and HW being noticably more difficult if one didn't actively use enmity generating skills like Flash and Overpower at the beginning of fights. But hey, maybe that speaks more about my mediocre tanking skills at the time, haha!

I think the best thing that happened to tanking in MMOs was the abandon of the enmity/aggro system. DPS had to cockhold their role in order to let you build hate and building enmity felt like beeing a DPS but playing with aggro modifer rather then DPS numbers.

Part of it is you're 57. You get your most powerful mitigation skill at 70, and it becomes a core part of what you do as a DRK. Combo-wise not much will change, but positioning becomes more important once you begin doing high-end content such as some EX's and savage.

Sadly, things aren't as tank-centric as they once were. Hopefully that will change, as the most recent savage tier has a lot of challenging stuff for a tank to handle that makes you feel more like an actual tank instead of a blue pseudo-dps.
