ARR Relic weapon quest stuck

Hey,

So I've been wanting to do my relic weapon on my Scholar for a while now. Finished the first step and got to the Zenith step. But at this point the game suddenly told me I had to finish a quest on Paladin. I recalled I tried doing the ARR Relic weapon on Paladin before, so I proceeded to try and abandon the Paladin quest line. I did, but somehow the quest is still stuck on the npc across Gerolt (I forgot his name). He tells me to get the Paladin weapon and shield, so I got the first tier weapons of Paladin, refined them to zenith but his quest will stay red and doesn't even allow me to get said quest on Paladin.

Long story short, wanted to do ARR Relic on scholar, found out I was doing it on Paladin. Tried cancelling it, quest is forever red, no matter what weapons I am holding even on Paladin. Was on Atma quest for Paladin and also disposed of the book at the npc.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I contacted the dev team and they literally told me to just ask the forum instead.

I'm not 100% sure, but you may just need to complete the current step of your paladin weapon first.

Probably you're just confusing requirements. Gerolt will always have all of the remaining weapon quests on queue. Paladin's is always listed first (until you've done it). So, if you're at any stage of the process beyond the first, he will appear to have the Paladin weapon starting quest waiting in red, until you switch to Paladin.

But that's just starting a new quest chain. If you've completed step 1 of any weapon, just move on to the next. If you have already completed one relic, then the quests themselves do not show up after the first. You simply do the steps. If you've completed the Omnilex, just go grab your Thavnarian mist and interact with the furnace. After that, just start doing FATEs for Atma, speak to Jalz when you have all 12. After that, just go buy your books. Etc. There's no quest line or anything to guide you once you've started, again, assuming you've already done it all on a different weapon.

Normally when a quest is red, if you try to take that quest it will tell you exactly what you need/need to do to move on. What exactly is the pre-req the quest is saying you dont have?

It's not telling you that you need to get the PLD weapon. It's just specifying that PLDs need to have both the sword and the shield in order to meet the requirement. What you need to look at is which weapon stage it's asking you to equip.

Keep in mind that the majority of the quests in the Relic/Zodiac weapon questline are one-time quests that simply unlock the ability to do the next upgrade step. For example: Completing the quest "Up in Arms" unlockes the ability to get Atmas from doing fates in specific zones while equiped with any Zenith weapon, as well as the ability to trade in a complete set of Atmas alongside a Zenith weapon in order to make an Atma weapon.
