Specific zone causing consistent 90002 d/c on entry and subsequent login attempts

    Hi forums,

I recently upgraded to a new laptop as my old one was starting to fall apart. I installed FFXIV on my new computer and was immediately a bit disconcerted as I couldn't log in to my main (and only) character. After some fiddling around I figured out that I could for some reason log in normally if I turn on my proxy... proxy off, I get a 90002 error a bit into the loading screen 100% of the time. I don't really know much about internet architecture but the weird specificity of this situation really has me scratching my head.

Anyway, I played as normal for a bit after that and could turn off my proxy, travel to different zones, log in and out, et cetera as normal. UNTIL I try to load into the same zone I was "in" when I switched computers, then it D/Cs me again and I have the same problem logging in until I do the proxy workaround again. I guess it's nice that I have a workaround, but it's a real pain and I'd rather everything just work as normal.

The zone in question is the South Shroud, if that matters, and it's the only zone/instance affected as far as I know. I can still enter it normally on my old computer, and another baffling quirk of this problem that I've found through testing is that logging out in another zone on my old computer does NOT break the new logout zone OR fix the South Shroud issue on my new computer. It's just the South Shroud affected.

Okay I wrote all that ^ and then did some extra testing and it's even weirder. I can walk into the zone through a land border (and from there go anywhere within it) just fine, it's specifically using an aetheryte into the zone that causes a kick, and even more specifically *just* the Quarrymill aetheryte-- the Camp Tranquil aetheryte causes no issues at all. Although I could use the Quarrymill aetheryte with no issues when I tested using it from standing right next to it. What gives?

Edit: I noticed that I sometimes get 90001 errors too. I don't know if that's important, but I figure the more info I give the better. I should also mention that I usually never play with a proxy on because it obviously shoots my ping through the roof, so the problem wouldn't have been caused by logging out with it on or something like that.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums,

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

-Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

    - Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

-Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.

We would also recommend deleting the locally-saved data folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I modified the settings in Internet Explorer as you suggested and restarted, and the problem seems to be solved now. Thank you, and sorry for the late reply.
