Presentation - 5/10
I like the theme, the idea of the world, and the era, but lack of any content whatsoever takes away from the presentation. Eg. Gun Class, Chocobos... the list goes on and on.

Graphics - 7.8/10
FFXIV is the best looking MMO to date, however there are still some major problems. Buildings and landscapes do not cast shadows, and water doesn't reflect the world. I think SE should have focused more on graphical technology than how many polygons they can cram into the game - it would look so much more realistic.

Character animations (other than lalafell) are top notch, although spell and battle animations are not satisfying.

Gameplay - 3/10
It's a 1-fest. You mash 1 for hours on end. The only quests to do are guildleves which reset ever 36 hours so you can do the same 8 quests again.

Leveling up crafting is almost unbearable. You sit for hours banging on an anvil selecting Normal Synthesis and occasionally one of your upgrades.

The market system is atrocious and slow.

Sound - 8.7/10
The sound in this this game is superb. The music is written by one of todays greatest composers. Most of the female voices are unpleasant however...

Lasting appeal - 2/10
Let's just put it this way. Out of the 20 people in my Linkshell, I'm the only one who still plays - occasionally... And only because I've been looking forward to this game for so long, and have hope that SE will turn this into something enjoyable.

I agree with most of that. The lasting appeal isn't great at all. Once you do most of the stuff there is to do, you're kind of boned to do anything else.

I'm with you on that one. :3 Once it feels less like a beta perhaps, and more like FFXI in 2004 when I started. (Btw, I don't mean when the game is more like XI, I just mean when it has the same sense of adventure I felt.)

"The game only started testing phase guys shut up."

Closed Beta
"It's only a beta stop complaining so much the point is we need to test the problems."

Final Closed Beta
"Open beta will open up a lot more content and most of the problems will be fixed."

Open Beta
"It's still only open beta and a lot of the content is closed off and there are still bugs to work out."

Collector's Release
"Some of the content is probably being held off until standard release."

Main Release
"Let's give it a few months."

"The development team is being restructured. I bet they have a lot of content done already and it will probably be released around the time the PS3 release was supposed to come out, which is in March. I'm gonna wait until then to make an opinion."

Yeah, to be honest, this game is dead to me. I am sick of waiting for them to change it. And I have a feeling they are trying to mould it into WoW instead of building upon the foundations which attracted me to the game in the first place.

^ this is what drives me totally insane, i mean theres not a single big chance since beta lol. A years worth of development.
