Does HQ materials even matter when building airships?

I've tried with and without HQ materials, but I don't seem to find any consistency. Some times the quality increases, but so it does with ordinary materials as well. Sometimes I get up to 100 in quality, other times hardly much above 50-60 (I even once had 40, but that time I only used ordinary).

As far as I know the only benefit for turning in HQ-mats is the increase in exp you get when turning them in - so not really worth the bother. Quality increase does seem to be completly RNG.

If your quality for a step is higher you have a higher chance that some of the items needed for the next step are already provided.
So high quality only has a chance to need less material to build something.

Does quality do anything for you? I've had 100% quality several times that ended in normal progress.

The only thing I've seen come from HQ materials is an extra click to confirm that you want to turn in HQ materials.

So if there's a way to in crease quality, that isn't totally random, that would be great, since making materials for level 50, at level 80, gives you a lot of HQ, as well as making HQ easy to make because of Trained Eye.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to find out if the quality depends on HQ materials, or if it's totally random.

it's random for progessing quality of the FC craft. you could totally submit everything NQ and get Outstanding Progress. HQ submissions are really only for extra exp for the submitter.

The amount needed for the next step is determined by the progress you make, it's either normal, excellent (-1/3), or outstanding (-2/3)

I haven't found quality to matter when the game rolls those dice for what level of progress you make

High quality materials don't have an impact on progress.

Someone in the sub discord did some testing and found the quality condition that impacts workshop progress is randomly assigned by the game when the materials are submitted regardless of whether they're HQ or normal. They couldn't find any evidence that HQ was more likely to increase quality.

My personal experience would agree with that. There have been times I submitted nothing but NQ materials and got a string of Excellent or Outstanding progress, and other times when I submitted mostly HQ materials and had nothing but normal progress. It truly seems to be random.

Making the materials HQ will give your FC points. If you do get an Excellent or Outstanding the leftover HQ materials usually sell for more.

That and EXPs if the person doing the turnin is in the correct level range are the only positives.
