    FFXIV A-Ranks / Hunts / etc

Hello FFXIV Community I'm sorry, but this has to be brought up and it needs to change... as i've seen it WAY to many times since the start. Please if you come across an A-rank or w/e shout it 1-2-3 4x and ask if anyone is "OTW" On-The-Way and do a "PT" "pull timer" for the last pull.

    - now where i have issue is after we shouted the pull 4x with "Anyone OTW" i have a "Hunt Train Community getting P.O'd" because we didn't join the discord / linkshell to do a shout.... yet there's prolly been 100x ive seen a hunt train do 1 shout and instantly pull after and waste the mob in 10 seconds. (not all of them)

    - so i ask you Why do players that are wondering and doing the right thing and shouting and giving more time and notice than a hunt train get shamed, but that hunt train does not once their blood lust starts? yet the non-train player gets shamed for doing both pulling without notice and pulling with notice?

    - you are probably going: "well i guess they don't since they have dedicated people who spawn and scout these hunts, so a lot of time goes into setting them up. and with as many people who join its not time effective to wait since they jump worlds after each train" Keiji raised this point in shout when we talked about it, it was nice talking to someone that could have a respectable convo in shout. -hats off to Keiji of Goblin-

    - and my response to that is: that's understandable and it makes a good point, but i still think if ur gonna shame one player for something the same standard should be held for all and not only that if you are a server jumping Hunt group you are going to another community server they may not even be aware of your LS built on another server on top of the fact to me that is a risk you take as a hunt group.

I think the point i'm trying to make here is do i think hunt groups are Good? yes i do it brings the community together. are they all bad? No. Do i think we ALL need to rethink how TF we are doing this. i really do. We can't get mad over the fact people did it correctly with out the knowledge a train is even running or the want to even join one.

I'm sorry for the rant i just wanted to put it out there as i'm dead sick of it. we play this game together yet it feels like a War no matter how we go about it.

    - Thx for readin

According to SE all hunts are first come first serve. The community has created all these "rules" they expect people to follow. If there is harassment involved on either side report them and be done with it.

that's true and i agree 100%, but i also see no problem with us as a community working together to try to include each person as best as we can without getting to insane on these "rules" to me it shouldn't be so much a rule as just general human decency.

    - thx for the reply. o7

    Absolutely.
But at the same time, don't get upset at someone playing by the games rules and not yours. There'll always be another one to get.

"don't get upset at someone playing by the games rules and not yours." I'm not upset, if anything coming out of my shell is causing me anxiety, but that is why i made this post lol i wanted to bring both sides to light as many of the rando's during that pull did not even know it was a thing and some didn't want to join those hunt shells.(100% fine) I myself could care less as i'm not even in one, but i still do the 1-2-3-4 shouts simply because of human decency. if ppl chose not to do both its their game and i'm 100% fine with that as you said there is always more and i agree. i'm addressing the ones that chose the above 2 options in general while making light of this.

    - Thx for the reply o7

I do feel like the reward to effort ratio of older S ranks has gotten a touch out of whack due to the addition of new items to be purchased with allied seals which effectively makes ARR S ranks more valuable then HW/SB ones.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to at least implement some kind of HP/damage scaling. IE, they could give "outdated" S ranks a stacking buff that reduces damage down to a small fraction of normal and only loses stacks from having same leveled or higher players in their vicinity to discourage people from soloing them at least.

I love that idea and yes some people will argue "You don't pay my sub. i can solo w/e" while they are not wrong.. i still think that this is an MMO the point to an MMO is to meet people and play together so a buff like that would be interesting for sure however that's just in my opinion.

    Most people do call outs.

but you always have people yell early pull. I had people complain who were coming over from other servers that we did not wait 8-10mins for the cross world train for an S rank to get over......

Once the mob is found I give it 4-5mins then I kill it with who ever is there. That is more then enough time for anyone in the world to get to where you are. People just always want to finish up a quest, fate, crafting first. Which is not fair to those actively hunting. AND Screw the waiting 10+mins on cross world people..

I don't even shout ShB A-Ranks anymore because no one would come. And if you could manage somehow a small group together and pull an A-Rank and someone other sees it, probably you get yelled at why you don't wait x hours till the hunt train starts.

Also I have the feeling that the hunt trains aren't always running when all A-Ranks are respawned, so that seems not so dedicated to me when the A-Ranks are untouched for several hours.

I've been scouting and conducting on Coeurl for a couple of years now. Here's how trains tend to work, at least on the Crystal data center.

I don't control trains, I guide them. I've got no way of knowing what several dozen independent-minded players are going to choose to do. I can give a pull time for the first mark when the train is still gathering and players will generally honor it. After that, someone will pull on landing regardless of any pull time I shout so I don't bother. Everyone wants the train completed as fast as possible so they can go back to doing other things. The best I can do is wait for the dead to get a Raise then tell the train where to go next.

It's unrealistic to expect a train to keep stopping to wait for some random player who thinks their time is more valuable than that of everyone else in the train. It's not. If you want to be part of the kill, get there now not 5 minutes later. Miss a kill? Oh well. You can always join the train for the rest.

Unless it's a bullet train mowing everything down in under 30 seconds, there's usually enough time to get there if you're already in the zone. In off-peak hours, there's usually time even if you still need to teleport in. The important part is to get there right away instead of thinking everyone is going to wait on your pleasure because they're not.

Keep in mind this is just for Rank A trains. If that's a S rank you're looking at, there's no telling what's going to happen.

If you want to kill a Rank A outside of train, it's your choice. The organized hunt community does not own the marks no matter how much some people want to think so. You are not doing anything wrong by the rules of the game. Others can politely ask you to consider waiting but they have no right to stop you or harass you if you don't want to wait.

If you do get harassed by someone for killing a mark outside of train, report them. You have done nothing wrong.

I would highly recommend that you join hunt linkshells and the Crystal Hunts discord for train relays if you haven't already. Trains are far more time efficient than killing a mark with a small group. The Crystal data center conductors try to work together to minimize trains overlapping so if you miss the train on Goblin, chances are good there's one running or about to start on another world. World visit has made it much easier for players to join a train when it's convenient for them instead of needing to juggle your schedule to make your home world's train.

Respawn windows are 4-6 hours. You might come across one that respawned as soon as its window opened but the rest won't be up for another hour and a half. Trains usually wait for everything to be respawned unless servers are about to go down for maintenance.

Right now trains are infrequent because it's the end of a very long patch and a lot of players have taken time away from the game (including many conductors). I'm not going to start a train at 4am Friday morning if only a dozen players will show up and it would take 10 minutes (or more) per kill. No one likes the 2 hour trains. I'll wait until 7am to start the train when a lot more players are online. If someone wants to get ambitious and try to form a kill group in the mean time, more power to them.

This likely will change starting August 4th. If SE follows their past pattern, the augments for the Allegory gear will be available for purchase at the Crystarium and Eulmore hunt vendors once 5.3 is released. Players are going to be capping the hunt currency prior to the patch release then once the patch is released they're going to be farming currency like crazy to buy their augments.

Expect trains to be extremely crowded and running regularly (even in off peak) until at least the end of August and probably a couple of weeks into September.
