And what is the fame system?
And what is the fame system?
The fame system was this awesome system FFXI had. The more quests you did, the more fame you did. And npcs would start recognizing you and offering you new quests. Having high fame would also lower the prize at NPC salesmen.
Anyone who doesn't like the fame system is an idiot who doesn't want to actually play the game, just have everything served in a silver platter. They are also the same people who complain they run out of content too fast.
Not awesome. Terrible.
You should revise your statement that if you wanted anything, you had to actually turn in hundreds if not thousands of millioncorn/cabbage/vegetables at Selbina because it was the quickest and most efficient way to gain fame. The more quests you did, the more fame you did. And npcs would start recognizing you and offering you new quests. Having high fame would also lower the prize at NPC salesmen.
Fame was more or less a horrible block for people to start experiencing content. Don't have fame? No problem, we'll just exclude you from playing the only job you had a desire to play in the first place! Hurray!
Because nothing says fun like wanting to unlock Summoner as your main job, but having to do some arbitrary garbage fame turn in quest. Accessibility is far more important than FFXI nostalgia or "FFXI challenges."Anyone who doesn't like the fame system is an idiot who doesn't want to actually play the game, just have everything served in a silver platter. They are also the same people who complain they run out of content too fast.
Non repeatable quests gave more fame than repeateable ones. If you just sat down and enjoyed the game instead of trying to rush to the top the requirement unlocked quests would be opened without even noticing.
Then again, if you wanted to rush, then yeah, you could go and grind like crazy and hate the game. Hey man, its up to you. Your choice of gameplay. But don't go complaining if you have a bad time.
When XI was released being a summoner actually meant something. It was a staple job and getting the avatars was no easy task. People would actually stop in jeuno to stare at them in awe.
How horrible, having an objective to aim to instead of being handed everything to you the first week through mindless grinding.
Hmmm Grand Comapnies, seals and rank. Sorry to burst your bubble but I am sitting on seals that I can not use because there is very little to nothing useful to spend said seals on. This system needs to be expanded on in 1 way or the other. Now lets take an idea from wings of the goddess, in FFXI. Every one joined a nation you than earned (forget what are called) points that can be spent on items from each nation. SO lets expand the seals so that we can buy from other nations but at a higher cost. A fame system would be nice if there was more towns, but right now I think the better way to go would be to allow seals to be spent in all Grand Companies. The difference would be if you buy something from a Grand Company you dont belong to you pay more in seals. The fame idea would be great for towns that are added as they might not use a Grand Company.
And, once again, here we are with the ugly opposite of "go play XI"...
Why is it so hard to say "I like XYZ/I don't like XYZ because ABC"?!
Why? Because the internet has no sense of consequence.
The solution? Mandate that shock collars be worn in order to use the internet with a supercomputer designed to detect doosh behavior. When a user is found in violation they are shocked.
noooooo they should not
i like where the company system is going now...
Where you feed hundreds of stacks of cabbage to some sheep so you can get access to an unrelated quest!
