Game crashing whenever I try to play in borderless window mode or press alt + tab

Good afternoon everyone, I've returned to playing FFXIV after a month offline but whenever I press alt + tab or try to play in borderless window the games ends up crashing, which is something that has happened before but I'm not able to solve the same way I did it before.
I've tried both updating and downgrading the driver but it didn't help

Is anyone else experiencing something similar?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs.
3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
5) Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
6) Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything

The fans and vents are clean, It's not a question of overheating as I can play other games without any problem

I've disable every startup program I could and the problem still happens

No USB or Audio devices are plugged when I play the game

I've updated all my drivers and the problem still happens

I've performed the clean boot the error is persisting

I've tried turning off fullscreen optimizations but the error still happens

Does the game crash when it is only run in borderless full screen? If you were to alt + tab in full screen mode would it crash? Additionally could you try reinstalling the graphics drivers?

Long shot here, but are you using Nvidia's DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution), or any of the other similar options to improve resolution and such? I'm guessing not, but I know that if I use DSR to set my resolution to something higher-resolution for screenshots, FFXIV dies hard with a DirectX error when I swap out of it unless I've set the entire system's resolution at desktop to match.

I also get the fatal direct x error and some random crashes. I never had issues before until last week after I updated my Nvidia driver to the latest version 451.67.
I am not sure yet if I am going to remove the driver and install the previous version or wait for an update.

After having a clean boot crash my PC to the point of having to hard reset my main HD with the windows OS on it. Try this for I kept getting Dx11 errors from just 1 quest. Uninstall ff14 fully and do a clean reinstall. Mine worked and Im still salty at support for even suggesting the clean boot (and even my cousin that works for Microsoft is wondering why they said for it can cause a lot of issues like I just had)

Yes, the crash also happens when I try switching to windowed mode

As for DSR, my GPU doesn't support it (Well I wasn't able to find any options about it on the nvidia control panel)

I've tried the clean reinstall once but it didn't help, actually but I'll try again I guess

I wonder if the driver 451.67 is the problem, but when I tried using another driver the error still kept happening
