Why do you think FFXIV is performing so badly form the content creation side?

Neither is Runescape, but it's a smaller playerbase with a bigger viewerbase than FFXIV. Larger content creators, too.

It's really just an excuse. The real reason is that casual players don't consume out-of-game content about said game. As casual players make up the vast majority of the playerbase, viewership and engagement in out-of-game content is low.
