Remove Gender-Locked Class/Weapon Poses

I think it had more to do with what felt more appealing for each of the genders from the viewpoint of the artists than that it had to do with realism.

I respect their artistic freedom, I think they have the right of creativity and how they imagine the world to be and I already like the way it is presented, I like it that there is a gender difference giving flavor to the world.

Aside from that, if there are additional gender specific poses to be added with such creativity as we have seen, it's very welcome.

Generally speaking I think that it's fine to have gender-locked stuff, especially when there's a reason for it like in Vindictus how the '' classes '' are actual characters and not just classes.
But yeah when it comes to poses I think that you should have all of the options, I really want the DRK one on my Viera but I am fine with or prefer the rest.
I think that it's an RP thing in general too because they sorta convey different personalities and such.
The male DRK pose is a bit edgier and the female DRK pose looks a bit more honorable and knightly imo.

Which you prefer depends on how you imagine your character to be.
Personally I'd prefer the male one, but then overall I prefer the female poses.

think a dark knight and warrior wear full plat armor aswell a paladin. i not suprise the men and woman in ffxiv hold weapon differently.

men and women have different strength men have strength in are upper body while woman have strength in they lower body area. picture a knight on battle feild wear 55 lbs of armor weild a great sword weigh 40 lbs swing it and tried the heat would killed you alone. not mention pure lost of energy for fight day and night in this armor


you really can't change male or female model use by game design to respent male and female character all fantasy is basic on reality

FFXIV isn't a realistic game and there's very little in the game that is that heavily influenced by reality.

I disagree about that, I think that's a very broad statement to make and I don't think that applies to FFXIV.

This is all about what is established in the setting, arguments about this in general kinda bother me a bit.
In Tera for example I have no problems accepting metal bikinis because it's treated as normal and no one reacts to it as weird and armor isn't even truly treated as something of that great importance.
Against a very significant portion of enemies that you fight it wouldn't even make a difference and could even be counter-productive.
It'd be strange in Mount and Blade tho, because it'd contradict the established setting and what the game is aiming for.

And in FFXIV women being soldiers is just an established norm and they're shown as being equally as capable as the men.
A woman swinging an axe twice her size is just normal here.

I'm perfectly fine with restrictions based on gender and race. Be this poses, animations, or even glamour.
On that line I've been wanting more RSE for a long time. Doesn't seem like it's going to happen though.

This thought has been sitting in the back of my mind for a while now. It has recently started bugging me enough that I created a forum account to post this and hopefully get some attention towards it. I know I'm not alone with this opinion: Allow both genders to use each other's class/weapon poses. I've searched online for other mentions of this same idea and a couple have popped up, but I wanted to revive this as there was no mention in the recent Live Letter. Personally I love the female DRK and MNK ready/idle pose and would pay to use it. There are some nice male poses as well, such as DRG's iconic idle pose. I've never used a fantasia before, and I don't really have any plans to either because I have favorites for each class. I really hope that this gains enough traction for SE to consider making this an option, even if it costed money. I'd happily hand over a few dollars to use my favorite female weapon poses. I don't think it would be a large time investment to make happen. I assume all they would need to do is slightly modify the pose's skeleton to fit a male's, if necessary. Once again, I hope SE will devote a little time to make this happen, I'm sure many people would be excited to have the extra customization for their character.

If anything, we should have the poses from the other classes as well. SAM should totally have access to the Gunbreaker pose.

your miss the point entire you keep say fantasy but even fantasy game need action role caption to make the character life like. the devs still need use really life actors to caption action that your character and paid actors and actress aren't cheap remove such action may even make the character not even able make fight movements. when one remove something for character it freeze up the character for while to it become unfrozen remove gender basic action would freeze the entire character up for period because action can not act on. instead understand what i point out your ingore it because it doesn't fite with what you want because it also destory any ability for you desire to be reality

why do people never take time understand game devolopment how much going into devolop a video games how much money it cost and how remove part of that game damage the game in process

Please! I've been asking for this for so long. I wouldn't care if they didn't lock iconic poses behind gender. It's bad enough that female Dragoons have stupid belly windows in their AF gear, but I also can't do the iconic dragoon pose? That's really dumb.

Not to mention that Samurai or Katana wielders in Japanese media that are more '' edgy '' like that already exist lol.
Gintoki in Gintama is still basically a Samurai and he carries his wooden sword on his shoulder like that quite a lot, a lot of characters do really.
And I mean is Zenos a Samurai? I think that's kinda pushing it really, Samurai as a class is more of a broad concept of what they are and their powers it's not something that we're super hard locked into lore and RP-wise.
It's not like the Japanese depict the Samurai '' accurately '' in Japanese media, which sorta gets into what the other guy arguing about fantasy and realism too.

Japanese fantasy is very different from Western fantasy, Western media is usually about holding up a mirror to real life and history while Japanese media is usually the exact opposite.
It's why Anime is so crazy and over the top by most Western standards, because Japanese fiction is more about how you can distort reality rather than reflect it.
You can see it in their classical art too, it's deliberately not realistic.
I see this a lot too when Westerners complain about '' realism '' in Japanese media, usually the comment sections fill up with Japanese people mocking Westerners and acting like we're children who can't tell the difference between real life and fantasy. In the West it often turns into a big circlejerk where people are nitpicking everything.
