I'd be good with a 5-10% MAX chance at recovering an arrow. It wouldn't make a huge difference, but it would feel "right".

I agree, getting anything back at all would be helpful.
Up till some patches ago, you used to be able to recover throwing weapons when thrown at a mob.
Can't remember which patch it stopped in, but it was always a nice plus @.@:;

The reason you have to pay for arrows, is the trade off for being at a distance when DDing - you avoid the AoE that other DoW have problems with. Just dont use cobalt arrows on stuff like sb/farming if you're having gil problems - keep your cobalts for bosses and dungeons etc
This makes no sense. Blms don't have to pay for nukes besides MP and MP is self replenishing. Blm has the range and has insane fire power.The reason you have to pay for arrows, is the trade off for being at a distance when DDing - you avoid the AoE that other DoW have problems with. Stack STR and Attack Power and just punch the crap out of mobs. If someone says something, tell them to f-ing buy you some arrows if they want you to shoot something for them. Heh.
I dunno about anyone else, but when I hurl a fireball in real life, everything around it always takes splash damage (friendly or not), including me.
So how can BLMs use Flare without dying? This mechanic should also be fixed to conform to real life.
Anyways literally the only justification for consumable arrows is realism and I have news for you...our level 50 skill has us firing an arrow while doing a back-flip and said arrow splinters off into a thousand other arrows. Example of why realism can suck it in favor of awesomeness.

Oh nice! What do you shoot? I use my Hoyt Intruder for bowfishing and a really nice Golden Eagle set at 75lb for everything else.I dunno about anyone else but when I physically use a bow in real life I don't just leave my arrows in the target...
Ok so one or 2 may be unusable after how many times they've used, brokenby accident when I've pulled them back out (Behave dirty minded people! I know there is a joke in there :|) so on and so on.
Point being, we spend a lot on arrows as it is, so why does SE torture us like this? a few more people might WANT to play Bard/Archer if the cost was a little bit less.
Any thoughts tweaks?
to Clarify, Its not an XI Mechanic, its a real life mechanic... it just happened to be in XI too.
A Dev answer would be Re-asuring, even if they do just say "coming in 2.0!"
