Crash to desktop without error

Since about a week my game randomly crashes to desktop. It happened before but only for a day and then not occuring for weeks.

I've read some of the other threads and tried different solutions (like reinstalling, closing other appications etc.). There were no changes made to the system since the first time it happened. Steam and FFXIV are installed on the same HDD.
I also cleaned my PC literally 2 hours ago because i thought it would be heating related.

So far i could pin down the crashes to only happen when i'm in a place with a lot of other players for 10+ minutes (Limsa, Gridania, Mor Dhona, Eulmore, Ul Dah).

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We would like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
3) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
4) Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
5) Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything
6) Install Windows, Steam and FINAL FANTASY XIV onto the same drive

Since this happens at random i'll have to wait and see if the changes i made show any form of change. I'll keep this updated.

Update:
Did all this without change.

First i thought the crashes would only happe in areas with high population. This isn't the case since a few crashes happened in areas where i was the only person around.
