Pause and Think before Shouting

I check the search function, probably nab one person, if I'm lucky. I also use the search function for myself, I'm sitting there for 6 hours doing nothing.

I will continue shouting until the community learns to use the search function.

that is exactly the problem, even the people that try to use it get discouraged very fast because everyone else is too stupid/lazy to use it which makes it unusable cause you neither find people nor get invites, so they say screw it and go back to shouting.

SE should turn off shouting for some weeks, maybe that is what people need to learn
with the current system there is NO excuse not to use it except that no one uses it, which is the community's fault alone
2.0 and new players are our only hope as it stands right now

I agree @ the OP, I would say its pretty much modern MMO mentality.

Content finder will most like stop much of the shouting but it will then cause problems with people not communicating.

Right now its quite stressful to start your own party in this game, getting 6/8 people for an hour and trying to find the last 2 spots is enough to make anyone not bother trying to make a party again.

Random shouts is common place in all MMOs, I have had loads of help on STO using zone chat (shout) and people don't care about conversations in zone chat on there, I really don't get why its such a big deal, people making parties shout atleast once a min, and if you see one fly past just wait 1 min, or scroll up the chatlog to see what was said.

If you are having problems seeing ls or pt chat then use a different tab for those, thats what I do and it works perfectly.

This game already has a lack of a social aspect, what you want is for it to get worse by making everyone hide in thier ls to never come out of it.

I hate to generalize but a large portion of the FF fanbase can be pretty snobby. They can be likened to people who turn up their noses at common action flicks and movies like Porky's and Freddy Got Fingered. This is how we end up with the whole "I can't be bothered by the /sh you n00bs! I'm over here smelling my own farts."

I myself am kind of snooty about RPGs because I base everything against Chronotrigger and FFII/IV and FFIII/VI but that's about the extent of that.

For the record, I turn my nose up at those two particular movies cuz I think they're terrible movies, not because I'm snobbish. "I love this thing cuz its so awful that no one loves it!" is not imo a valid reason to avoid nose-turn-upping to said awful thing. I think the bigger issue with players is -i'm not helping you if there is nothing in it for me-.
