The full conversations in /sh used to bother me immediately after servers were merged, since I definitely wasn't used to that on Palamecia, but they toned down too. Occasionally someone will post something like "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" in 2 lines of text length out of the blue, but I usually just roll my eyes.

I seem to ALWAYS forget past quests, chores, locations and mob names, but I never forget names of people whose shouts rub me the wrong way in /sh >_>
lol i was on pal and it was so damn quite there. /sh crack me up i dont see the harm. Now next time i see you in uldah im just gonna shout nonstop weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee LOL

Anyway, the point I'm trying to get across is pretty much what I've said in the title. The reason I'm saying this is because I just see so many shouts that's just... not well thought out.

One of the most common examples of this is Ul'dah shouts like:

34 job, please invite to exp PT.
    or
    Ifrit Bleeds, please invite me.

Now, let's think about those shouts for a moment. Unless a group just happens to be forming the precise moment you're shouting AND happen to be in range in hearing your shout, you're not going to get an invite. And do not expect strangers to help you make a party FOR you, because a.) you're a stranger and they don't have obligations to and b.) it's takes a lot of effort creating a full group of 6 others to help your single cause. You're better off making your own group instead.

It just annoys the heck out of me because those people are basically forfeiting the thought of trying to make their own group and hoping on the inane chance that someone will make the group for them. And it's usually these types of people who complain that the community is not being friendly. Guess what, it's not because people are not friendly, but it's because what you're asking is not exactly a 'small' favor as you might think.

On a related note, people need to stop using shouts as chat channels because it spams the chat log, and because of that I might miss a party shout I'm interesting in joining. The majority of us don't care what you have to say. Take it in tells. Why won't I just use blacklist, then? Because I don't want to blacklist people in case I happen to land on the same party as them at a later date and because I blacklisted them I might miss something important they might say.

It's called common courtesy people. Use it. Please.
lol, took you long enough :P
unfortunately, common courtesy isn't very common just like common sense.

So you stand in the middle of Uldah looking for a quiet place? Sorry, but Uldah is the main city, and being so, it is the main market of the game. People go there to buy/sell items and start/look for groups. I'm sorry if that is somehow hurting your quiet time. Go into the halls of flame next time, or better yet go to the other 2 cities. I can guarantee you will get all the nice shout free quiet time you can handle over there. Seriously this game really has no content at all I guess, because we have idiots filling the forums with retarded posts like these.

Stay inside an inn. I am glad JP timezone communities in gungnir fully utilize recruitment search. Not annoyed at shout spam + still easy to get into pick up groups = win.

Really? Complaining about people actually talking on cities?

Come oooooonnn. Every city is a ghost town almost all the time, I actually feel quite glad when someone is actually talking, even if I could care less about the content of their conversation. I also like a few random /sh here and there, like the one guy in my server who shouts "TILL SEA SWALLOWS US ALL!" out of nowhere. Stop being so rearpained because someone out there is having some fun or being actually social in a multiplayer game outside of his shell.

Unless we're talking about people who shout "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" or other actual spam, then you have a point.

Also, I like that there are always people saying to "use the party search" on the forums, but when I filter for people looking for a party, there's 2-3 matches. Where are all you search users? ;3. And I do set up party search EVERY time I'm looking for a party, but 99% of the time I only have sucess by using /sh. (and I'd like to make a little suggestion to include a "with comment" or something like that in the search filters, I've seen plenty of people on pts with comments like "PT 7/8, join us!", but it's pretty hard to find those parties since I can't filter them).

And while I do agree that constant party /sh is annoying and avoid doing it, sometimes it *IS* needed, specially when there are multiple parties being formed. Between 3-4 shouts + multiple linkshells talking, 20-30 seconds can be is enough to make an actual interested person miss your shout, in some cases. Not everyone uses a /sh chat log, and, as I've mentioned, almost no one sets up party flags, sadly.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say is: Stop getting so pissed about such minor issues.

its not so much shouting in general as it is people shouting for parties or raids or primals.. if someone is making a party for one of those THEY WILL BE SHOUTING..... therefore there is no reason for u to shout asking to join one.... either make your own damn party or wait for someone else to shout if youre too damn lazy. OR do use the party search feature.... which one one uses. i rarely see more than 5 people using it at any given time and most the time those people are JP.

I think that once they implement a visible party flag and tweak the search feature, the shouts may diminish.
