Really? Complaining about people actually talking on cities?

Come oooooonnn. Every city is a ghost town almost all the time, I actually feel quite glad when someone is actually talking, even if I could care less about the content of their conversation. I also like a few random /sh here and there, like the one guy in my server who shouts "TILL SEA SWALLOWS US ALL!" out of nowhere. Stop being so rearpained because someone out there is having some fun or being actually social in a multiplayer game outside of his shell.

Unless we're talking about people who shout "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" or other actual spam, then you have a point.

Also, I like that there are always people saying to "use the party search" on the forums, but when I filter for people looking for a party, there's 2-3 matches. Where are all you search users? ;3. And I do set up party search EVERY time I'm looking for a party, but 99% of the time I only have sucess by using /sh. (and I'd like to make a little suggestion to include a "with comment" or something like that in the search filters, I've seen plenty of people on pts with comments like "PT 7/8, join us!", but it's pretty hard to find those parties since I can't filter them).

And while I do agree that constant party /sh is annoying and avoid doing it, sometimes it *IS* needed, specially when there are multiple parties being formed. Between 3-4 shouts + multiple linkshells talking, 20-30 seconds can be is enough to make an actual interested person miss your shout, in some cases. Not everyone uses a /sh chat log, and, as I've mentioned, almost no one sets up party flags, sadly.

Anyways, what I'm trying to say is: Stop getting so pissed about such minor issues.

its not so much shouting in general as it is people shouting for parties or raids or primals.. if someone is making a party for one of those THEY WILL BE SHOUTING..... therefore there is no reason for u to shout asking to join one.... either make your own damn party or wait for someone else to shout if youre too damn lazy. OR do use the party search feature.... which one one uses. i rarely see more than 5 people using it at any given time and most the time those people are JP.

I think that once they implement a visible party flag and tweak the search feature, the shouts may diminish.

i agree most of what op said, just the shout channel is not just for party shouts, so ppl can use it for what ever they want.
actually it can be used to chat over a large distance and with many ppl at once s stop keeping it as a party forming tool, we have search for that, learn to use it.

For the record, as many people have missed my main point and instead pounced on my 'aside' comment, when I mean people should stop using shouts as chat channels what I mean is stop using shouts as regular means of communication as if you were talking in an LS. If you want to shout for the sake of party recruitment, then by all means, go ahead, as I believe that should be the shout's main purpose.

And if people are worried about if towns are like ghosts towns, there always is say, you know. I have no qualms of people using that as a chat channel. I just think that shouts should be reserved for party recruitment, 'tis all.

If you don't like it, then don't look! is not a valid excuse as I can't filter off shouts because I want to see recruitment. There is blacklist, but again, I won't because of reasons stated earlier.

    Edited to reflect OP.

And the people who use the shout as their personal LS chat channel is not? This argument can go both ways. But brushing that aside, way to generalize and make personal attacks over something you don't agree with.

Oh, and while we're at it, how about we discuss the validity of pausing and thinking before posting on the official forums too, hmm?

Sarcastic comments aside, I agree, let's let this thread die. I think it's already served its purpose.

One thing I don't get... why NA players put @1/8 ?? If they trying to copy the JP players using @ that @ means.

    @ = Ato = Remaining like 2 more spots open @2

And I agree with Stanislaw those shouts is annoying lol, fun to read some of them...
Oh and also... for love of subligar god.. don't use google translate to post JP version of the shout... it turns out horrible, makes no sense at all lol (fun to read also....lol) - use this as reference but make sure to say you don't understand Japanese later so you don't end up in language barrier hell while partying - http://goo.gl/YE9Vx

Kind of off topic... but when I shout and say please join from party search... it means exactly that... doesn't mean send me a tell and ask me what jobs/class you need... it's all in the PT search comment >< hate explaining the whole stuff every time... orz. But then again when I talked about this with my linkshell guys they said they didn't understand what Party Search was... wish there was better way to explain this one... I really like the feature now after using for 2-3 weeks now.

I bet that's really hilarious! Google translate only ever gives a sort of idea of what it means, but it's never something you could ACTUALLY say...

They probably use @ as 'at', meaning, 'currently' and doesn't quite understand how us JPs use it. And yes I agree it's annoying as someone who can read both languages. =P

How could I ever forget those? XD Man are those translations horrible. I understand their good intentions in trying to communicate with us, but because the translation result is hideous, you're better off using auto-translate.

even if they "fix" the LFP and make the game more like XI, which I still don't understand WHY people want this game to lose it's uniqueness and be JUST like its lower grade counterpart, I myself will still use /sh to strum up convorsation, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Heck even on XI I would shout random things in Jeuno and Aht Urgahn just to get a laugh out. Like: /propose "Who pwns this server?" "Chuck Norris" "Sadow Lord" "OCTAGON" hahahaha...good times good times

Before you post, think about what you are saying. Final Fantasy XI has outperformed Final Fantasy XIV on every level possible. Right now, it is outperforming FFXIV in terms of revenue brought in, total playerbase, content, etc. To say that FFXIV is FFXI's "Lower Grade Counterpart", almost makes me believe that you are trolling.

On topic however. I like the idea of a specialized /sh channel.
