Back on Asura we had a guy we called "Super Ralph" and for the longest time he had a 98% claim rate on all HNM's he ever attended. He was just a naked level 75 crafting mule and all he ever did was run to the zone, get claim, move on to the next zone while his shell killed the HNMs, and repeat. In the end it turned most HNMLS's off from doing it or forced them to feel the need to bot in order to compete, by time the guy got banned all kinds of shells began botting to compete with each other just compounding the problem, just turned into an endless cycle.

I'm all for a little competition, but I really would rather avoid reliving 21-24 hour windows that just encourages foul play from players.
You should look at my thread labeled "Highly Notorious Monsters", it has a bunch of great points concerning HNM/NM's.

But the above posters hit the point head-on... Anything and everything in MMORPG's runs a risk of being exploited/botted. Omitting content solely due to the fact that it may possibly be exploited is sheer nonsense. Anything of that sort can eventually be patched/fixed, and can work its way into the game in a fair, even manner.

I understand each and everyone's concerns about the matter. I myself don't want a system that includes bot's fighting for claim. I'm sure however, that regardless of what obstacles may come into the path, an NM/HNM system can work its way into FFXIV.
