What do you think the Relics symbolize?

I rememebr Ethys Asher making a series of videos going into the Relic weapons (also include Anima weapons and he AF2 weapons) that delves into heir namesake and what they represent for the Warrior of Light at that moment. I want to ask for opinions of a similar bent, but applied to the Zodiac/Anima/Eureka/Resistance weapons as well as the AF wepaons of the expansions. What do you think each of those weapons represent for the Warrior of Light when they were first made available. What are they symbolic of?

The GNB AF weapon Lionheart is of course the name of Squall's ultimate weapon in FFVIII, so that was clearly a deliberate reference (even if the design is completely different), and ties in with the lion motif associated with the Job (the hrothgar created it, the player is called a "lion" by Vitus during the GNB Job quests), and that also again ties into FFVIII with Squall adopting lion icongraphy (with his ideas about Griever symbolizing his strength, resilience and honour).

Also, his last name was Leonhart.

Well usually, particularly with the Zodiac and Anima weapons they were direct references to FFXI relics and empyrean weapons. For instance the Ragnarok Z states that the axe was once a sword. This is a direct reference to the Ragnarok relic Great Sword from FFXI. Though it was solid gold with green gemstones, rather than demonic looking.

The anima weapons are mostly FFXI Empyrean weapon references. At least until their final forms. The Ukonvasara etc. The stages after that are mostly their own unique FFXIV thing, though there are some references to mythology still.

The Eureka references look like first time references to mythology to me. I only did DRG though, and wasn't all that invested in Eureka relics.

Currently the Resistance weapons first stages are almost all FFXI weapon references, most of them references to strong weapons dropped by Notorious Monsters within an alternate world called Abyssea that weren't actual relic weapon/mythic etc. stages, though notably the Talekeeper is a sword that comes from the Arch Dynamis Lord or the Shadowlord S, as it was his sword originally when he was still a Galka. Woeborn was a DRK only Scythe that had Endark effect.

All in all, in general, the relics are special weapons that make reference to the MMO of yesteryear that was FFXI. Their names are memories both wondrous and vile for old timers like myself. I don't think they really mean anything to our current WoL, though if you take from the Iroha seasonal quest initiative that our WoL shares the same/similar soul with her master, then you could say that they represent transmigrated memories from the WoL's previous life and world.

Well, enchufla is a turn that you do when dancing salsa.

Being both a Cuban and a dancer main, this pleases me

    Nothing in particular.

Most of the Relic weapons have some sort of real world namesake (Sasuke's Blades are named for the legendary ninja Sarutobi Sasuke), fictional namesake (Excalibur was King Arthur's legendary sword), and/or franchise legacy name (Kaiser Knuckles). The ones that don't are rather generic (Stardust Rod, most Resistance Weapons in their current state, etc). It would take a bit of research and more time than I have at the moment to pull up every one.

But as for "symbolism" of something in the present moment, or at the time they were obtained? There really isn't any.
