I'm happy with Hrothgar (minus the head gear/hair situation) but I would like to see some Bangaa. But it'll never happen since YoshiP already said we have enough races (and how about fixing them first?) and they are too different in their physique so it would only but more stress on the guys who design/code armour. Oh well.

In future expansions, I would absolutely love this! Having more humanoid races like the Hrothgar I always think makes a fantasy game just better!

If they ever do add anymore races, it should definitely be more none just human with some ears and or tail tacked on, we have enough of those as is.

Probably won't happen. They won't be able to efficiently make new gear available to all races with non-humanoids.

Making the Bangaa a playable race sounds like a great idea conceptually but adding another playable race takes a huge toll on the game's production and development. The addition of a playable race isn't content that is slapped on top of existing content with linear cost in development. This is content with exponential cost as the game gets older since they would have to backtrack all the way to A Realm Reborn to remake assets to become compatible with the new race in addition to making more assets than previously for future patches to accommodate for the addition of this race.

Unless Square Enix gives more funding to Final Fantasy XIV and is able to expand their team by adding more talented developers, then I'm actually against adding another playable race since development costs of this would affect future content and people would be whining about why future patches feels so scarce compared to before. In fact, people are constantly complaining about Viera and Hrothgar feeling like incomplete races with their lack of gender choices and an array of incompatible helmets. If anything, the priority would be to catch these races up to be on par with existing races by making more assets compatible and by adding gender choices which costs just as much as adding a new race.

TLDR: The addition of another playable race has a massive development cost that can greatly affect the quality of future content.

P.S. Although I'm not entirely sure if this has been stated by the lore in-game but if they do add Bangaa as a playable race then I wouldn't be surprised if they make them hermaphrodites like the Namekians from Dragon Ball so they can save development costs from adding gender options.
