    There is a trick that I'm using for windows but I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else. I'll try to explain:
    1. Place a wooden slat partition(https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...e/25091b23e84/).
    2. Place the window that you want to float onto the wooden slat partition.
    3. Rotate the wooden slat 180 degrees so that the front side of the window is closest to the wall rather than the back.
    4. Move the floating window near the wall until it is about a stage panel distance from the wall or until the original window is completely obscured.
    5. Remove the wooden slat partition. The window should not snap onto the wall anymore.

    This removes the need for the stage panel and should save you one furniture slot. This a will only work for items that have the same look front or back.
