I would wait till you got farther in the story to judge them considering you're still calling her Yda.

Aside from Tataru (and maaaaaaybe Alisaie), i won't care, at all, if they die. Hell, that could even be good. This expansion gave us a superior Minfilia after all
When i see aLalafellcharacter wearing a cute glam
They'd have to give our silent protagonist a new mouthpiece every time we got tired of one.
-Spoilers for ShB-While I don't feel the desire to go all backstabby about it, I would apprecaite it if they actually let some deaths be final. Papalymo got the short end of the stick as being the only Scion that SE found truly dispensable. But yeah, as a whole, I just really dislike how they have so many fake deaths in this game. Lets start having some proper deaths! Just don't hurt Alphinaud, he's adorable.
Personally hoping what happened to Y'sholta wasn't simply pulling her out all fine and dandy but like she starts to fade and is simply her code/blueprint given life via his creation magic (not even to his malice, was simply the best he could do to bring her back, a sort of super accurate clone). May elongate that farwell with her coming to terms with it, and perhaps offering a final farewell of help to the group via sticking around the city of creation magic and learning what she can (delaying her dissipation). But in the end she will fade.
I enjoyed ShB but there did feel like quite a bit of plot armor going on lol. Would be nice to see someone's plot armor not actually be plot armor, or something.
I wonder who the next scion to die will be and who will get a big focus like lyse did in SB.
I could see the Twins being the big focus again. Either that or Y'shtola. She's been relevant throughout HW and ShB, but never actually the FOCUS like Lyse was in SB and Thancred sorta was in ShB.
That would actually make for an interesting story line. Idon't know how willing SE would be to kill off their poster-girl though. :X-Spoilers for ShB-

And this is probably the wrong thread for this, but on a slightly-aether related note - how is it that Thancred & Urianger were able to go back to the Source after completing the Eden fights? IIRC, at the end of ShB, they were still trying to find a way to get back to their bodies. At the end of the Eden CSs, the two of them were saying it was there time to go back home. I swear I was trying to pay attention, but I seem to have missed something big :P

More realistic risks to the Scion's wellbeing would be nice. Thancred, as an example, is the most vulnerable of the Scions considering how delicate his aether is to the point where he can't use Aetheryte crystals to teleport or even charge his own gunblade bullet cartridges.
To me, if his body died in the Source but he himself went on living in the First would make some sense because his condition possess the most serious risk to his own life and being transferred somehow back to the source could possibly kim him if attempted.
And as for any other Scions, I personally think either Alphinaud or Aliasie will actually end up dying much later on in the game.
In Death Stranding this had happened to a pair of twins who claimed they were connect by their souls, so they could feel what the other was when close by. When one died, their soul had joined the body of the other twin instead of moving to the afterlife, making them one and the same. The deceased twin could even take control of the living one's body whenever she wanted to after that, too.
I suspect something like this will happen with Alphinaud and Aliasie because of how the 13 Worlds house a reflection of the Ascions on each of their worlds, along with every other person on the Source, with their aether being fragmented among all these worlds until rejoined
Since Alphinaud and Aliasie are twins, I wouldn't be surprised if their aether split between them when they were born like the how 13 Worlds and the Source were. So if one of them died maybe they would simply combine/return to the other and become whole/one being. While also inheriting their personality, skillset and knowledge into their own, too.
